Whispering Canyon Cafe?

I was thinking about eating dinner here and was wondering what it was like and how many people like it or not. It's just the DW and I. Thanks for any info and opinions given.

Good casual restaurant with a lot of family games run by the wait staff. The food was good, down home food. I liked the breakfast a lot and thought it was better than dinner. The corn on the cob at dinner was great.

If it was just my wife and me I would go next door to Artisan's Point. We ate there one night when our kids stayed at FW with my mother and it was great. I had the salmon and it was truly wonderful.

So, I guess if it was me and I wasn't traveling with kids I would pick a different more adult oriented resaturant than Whispering Canyon. But, if you can handle the noise and commotion and can get into the fun you will enjoy it.

Be sure and ask for ketchup if you go.

Thumbs up for WCC- we had a great time. Good food- we went for dinner and got the all you can eat platter. We esp liked the chicken and ribs. It was a good deal at $21.99- most of the entrees were $16-20 and an extra $4 for a salad. We just figured we wouldn't stuff ourselves with the all you can eat, but be able to sample lots of things- and that we did. Great biscuits! We did ask for ketchup....oh boy! The boys at the table next to us needed a red crayon- he certainly got his wish!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say we were there for New Years Eve this past year and did not have a good experience. Maybe it's because it was so busy. We were there with about 15 people, including 7 hungry 15 y/o's. We asked for more ribs and told they were out. Mind you this was an all you can eat meal. The waitress told us they served 600 meals and they were out. Not the Disney answer we expected.
Long story short the valet also lost our Car keys that night. So the manager took care of us the next morning by giving us a refund for our dinners. Now that was a Disney answer. We all walked away happy, took the money to Fultons and ate it up.
Now there is a wonderful, memorable meal.

We enjoyed this restaurant. Our PS was right at 5 so it wasn't crowded or too noisey. My husband had the ribs and I had the grilled chicken pasta. Both were very good. Here is a link to the menu from deb's page in case you are interested. We will probably eat there again next week.

Lot of fun, good food, casual. Very Disney experience even without the characters. Artist's Point is more upscale. By the way, don't wear T-Shirts from other theme parks at WCC and expect to get away with it...

I made 2:40PS for lunch at WCC and there were at least 8 other tables going while we were there. I was excited to go there after hearing all the hoop lah and I hadn't told the crew any of the details. Well NOT a thing happened that I had read about and when I told DS12 to ask for some ketchup the waitress simply picked one off the table next to us and handed it to him. DH had the all you can eat skillet, me a sandwich and the 2 boys had kid meals total cost w/ tip $74.00 for lunch! Food was ok, nothing exciting but the WL is beautiful! We asked to see a room and took a stroll around the grounds. I think we'll skip it this time around......

Mom2of2, sorry to hear you were disappointed with WCC. I think maybe the time of your lunch being so late in the afternoon - really in-between lunchtime and dinnertime - might have been the reason. It seems like when the restaurant is the fullest, at breakfast or dinnertime is when most of the fun stuff happens. More people = more laughs, maybe.

<P>FH, DSis (12) and I ate there a few months ago. We live in the area and often just head over to Disney to ride the monorail or have dinner (we are so lucky!) on this particular night that's just what we did. We started at the GF and made our way to the Contemporaryand hoped a boat to the WL. It was about 6:30 and the WCC was packed- we didn't have a PS and I was SURE we wouldn't be able to just get right in... but we did! We were seated in the main middle section closer to the back of the room across from the windows. FH and I had the All You Can Eat and DSis had a grilled chicken pasta dish. We all loved our food... I don't eat corn bread but here I loved it, and even though our server was really busy we still got great service and the atmosphere was great!<p> Now if your looking for a place to have a nice quiet dinner, this definately isn't the place. But if you want something a bit laid back all be it somewhat noisy then I'd say go for it! We loved it and will be going back and taking family with us because it's just a fun place to eat!

We already have a couple of nice, quiet dinners planned so we're not looking for that. I'm just trying find a place that's good and not real expensive. It sounds like this place would be a lot of fun, assuming we get a CM that does everything. We may try it, but I'm not sure. Just getting some opinions on the place.

Casual restaurant featuring barbeque and other "grub", in huge servings at somewhat expensive prices. You will get teased unmercifully, be embarrassed, have kids running around your table on stick ponies, have servers clomping their tray stands to sound like horses' hooves, and may wish you had thought to bring your earplugs.

If you enjoy that type of atmosphere while you are eating, I think that you will enjoy this restaurant.

Personally, we didn't think that dinner was all that great, but the breakfast was very good.

We (3 adults) got there a bit after the usual dinner hour and were seated by the rail with a wonderful view of the Fort Wilderness lobby. It wasn't crowded, yet there were still plenty of fun and games going on. It was our first night and we had traveled all day. We weren't exactly ready for a full meal so we asked if they had a sandwich menu. (Much less expensive too) I ended up with a grilled chicken sandwich and fries. We knew what was in store so we kind of snuck the catsup off a nearby table unnoticed. It was an enjoyable first evening in the world.
