Whispering Canyon Cafe OR Grand Floridian Cafe

If you are going at Xmas time I would choose the Grand Floridian. You get to see a beautifully decorated resort for the holiday including the full sized ginger bread house. There's piano music for the holidays in the lobby. There's even an orchestra playing sets at different times through the evening.

If you have kids they will enjoy Whispering Canyon Cafe better. This is more casual and there are some children games that get done there during the meals. You get a good proportioned meal, here, as well.

Another consideration is transportation. Without a car I would opt for the Grand Floridian. The monorail makes this a very good choice.

If you time it right you can see the MK fireworks at the pier if you choose the Grand Floridian.

They're both good, but I think the food is much better at GFC. However, most kids love the atmosphere of WCC.

I don't think you can go wrong with either though.

WCC involves a lot of shouting, both by CMs and guests, as well as people getting up and running around. If that works for your kids, then it's a fun experience. If that does NOT work for your kids (I'm wondering about the 3 yr old) then probably GFC.

Overall I think GFC has better food. The attraction at WCC (aside from the 'antics') is the all-you-can-eat BBQ skillet, and the bottomless milkshake that can be used as the beverage; if you are on the DDP, the cost/value is good. If you are just regular items off the menu, again, I think GFC is better.

The Whispering Canyon Cafe is very loud and the servers involve the diners especially the children in entertainment getting them up out of their seats on hobby horses (wooden stick horses) running round the restaurant. It serves BBQ type food which we have always found good. As you have young children you may decide that they would find this fun.
If you want a more relaxing quieter meal then the Grand Floridian Cafe is very beautiful and the food is very good indeed.

As PP have said it's mainly about the atmosphere when choosing between the two. The antics at Whispering Canyon are fun for some, not so much for others. The GFC, which we prefer is more elegant and has a bit better food, at least in our opinion. You have little kids so if being entertained during dinner is a good thing then I would go with the Whispering Canyon Cafe.

We have never been to Grand Floridian Cafe, but after our absolutely horrible meal at WCC, I would pick anything (except Hollywood&Vine) over it.

We've been to WCC many times & loved it!!! GFC only once & none of us really liked our dinner.....

We have only had good meals at WCC. Awful food at GFC and it's like any hotel lobby restaurant in any hotel just very generic and not Disney at all.

We recently had this dilemma, but for lunch. As PP have said, the real difference between these two is the experience. We went to WCC and although we weren't directly involved in any shenanigans it was fun watching other people :)

Have a look at the menus and see what you like most :thumbsup2

Oh, we opted for GFC on our next trip if that helps.

We are thinking about WCC but we are afraid that we (two adults) would be part of the "games" that going on there. We don't like this at all.
Are they doing this only with children or are adults also involved sometimes?

As you definately do not want to be part of the games then I would say it is best to choose a different restaurant for dinner in the evening. It is not a quiet restaurant and can get quite noisy. Normally the servers only get the children up to play the game of running around the restaurant on the hobby horses but they definately involve the adults in the verbal antics between the tables. If you particularly wanted to eat the BBQ skillet type food here then when you check in at the podium you could ask for a table away to the far right hand side towards the back which is not in the main area where most of the fun takes place.

You can't control what happens around you but if you tell your server at the start of the meal that you're there for the food and not the circuses you'll be just fine. My wife and I did WCC for our going-away breakfast and our server seemed rather relieved to just bring the food and top off the orange juice now and then.

It's a themed restaurant, and the antics are the main focus. When I've been there, waitstaff have picked on both adults and children pretty much equally.

If you're not interested in playing along, there's no reason to go. The food is just average.

When my DH and I went alone, we were stuck in the back room (despite tables being available in the main room). However, that evening there were absolutely no shenanigans going on in either room and we were stuck there for two hours due to our service. I think if you tell them you don't want to be involved, they will leave you alone.
