I just decided to book a breakfast ADR for Whispering Canyon on our last morning (no parks, just travel day) since we're staying at WL.

I'm aware of the antics at dinnertime but wondered if they are similar at breakfast?

All depends upon
. . . the CM's enthusiasm and if they have the time
. . . the guest participation level

Exactly. We have eaten at WCC for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it always seemed to us that at breakfast the waitstaff are a bit calmer then the ones that work at lunch and dinner. They do do some of the antics (at least the ones we have gotten before) but they are a bit more reserved at breakfast time. Also, just wanted to say that the breakfast skillet at WCC are really good, when we stay at WL we always make a point to eat there for either breakfast or dinner. Enjoy :goodvibes.

Well--at our one (and thank heaven--only) breakfast at the Canyon, it was antic City.

Servers screaming Yippeee and Yahoo all the time, banging the serving trays on the floor. I became "Pardner" and Mrs U was '"Little Lady".

And then there was childrens stick horse race around the restaurant---

And the servers blowing straw wrappers at the folks eating breakfast--

1) Yep.
2) Sometimes it gets so loud, we can't hear ourselves across the lobby!

Thanks for the info! I'm fine with either rowdy or low-key... whatever happens.

The menu is what prompted me to book. Plus having a nice big breakfast before an early afternoon flight is also appealing.

Yes--but only at dinner!!

We had often walked by the place en route to a good restaurant (Artist Point) and heard all the screaming and yelling.

But I never imagined they would do that early in the morning and I never bothered to ask. So in our quest to eat at almost every restaurant at WDW, we went to WC for breakfast.

I guess the only good that came out of it was that now I'm able to warn people and hopefully avoid them making a similar mistake:)

And I should add the food was mediocre at best--even w/o antics we wouldn't have returned.

They did the ketchup thing one morning when we were there for bfast. Not on the other mornings. My DH wasn't into the antics and I think our server kind of sensed that. They do a broomstick race with the kids for breakfast.

We did exactly that when we stayed at the WL two years ago. We had breakfast on our last morning before heading home. Very disappointing, not only no antics whatsoever, we had the most unfriendliest waitress ever. She was mad because I gave my then two year old daughter some scrambled eggs off of my $20 skillet. Give me a break.

On another note, we had lunch there when we arrived, and our server was fantastic.

. . . Did you not know about the antics beforehand? . . .

1) They do
. . . ketchup gag
. . . water gag
. . . pony rides
. . . napkin gags
. . . hat gags
. . . verbal and sight jokes
. . . etc
2) But,
. . . will they do it for you?
. . . will they do it on the day you are there?
. . . can you call the eatery ahead of time to se what they are doing?
. . . can you find out if they are doing it when you are at podium?
. . . no
3) Again, antics are SOLELY based upon the CM, as none are promised.
. . . are they too busy serving food?
. . . are they in a good mood?
. . . do they have guests that want to play along?
. . . do they have guests that do not want to hear/see/partake in the antic?

I know about the antics and that it's possible that they won't do it, but it looked like PP seemed surprised that there were antics there.

We've been twice and it was really fun without being annoying.
The first time we were a group of 8- our neighbors happened to be there for a day for his work, and their son (our son's friend) and nephew too. We found out last minute but were able to add them to our adr. The kids thought it was great, and my son treid to get his friend to get ketchup from another table until our waiter "caught" him, which got the whole place bringing us bottles. I knew DH would order a soda and they brought him one in a huge mason jar. Our waiter Jeffro was not loud, but really funny, especially with the kids. I still remember his name because he had them chanting it, and also yelling "hey chef, where's our food?" etc. He was an excellent server too, not just goofing off.
The second time it was just the four of us, but we still had fun. Great service again, and not too annoying. We also had fun with the group at the table next to us. We thought the food was good too.
