What are the antics at Whispering Canyon? I have not found alot of reviews on this restaurant and am curious what happens there. I found alot of reviews regarding the food not tasting very good.

If someone asks for ketchup, they yell and bring it from every table. Kids ride around on those stick horses. Lots and lots of yelling. Other stuff that I've tried to block from my memory....:lmao:

My MIL called right before we got our check. When our waiter came back to the table he took my cell phone and told my MIL he had to talk to her for a while so I could pay my bill. :) Then he passed my phone to random diners so they could talk to her too.

He also told us that we were in a restaurant wide coloring contest and our biggest competition were the 4 year olds at the next table. When we were done coloring he took our pictures and told us he'd hang them up with the others. We walked out and there were our pictures hanging on a completely blank wall. ;)

If you finish you beverage and ask for a refill, they will bring you one in a VERY LARGE glass.

When they bring you your soft drinks, they just whip the straws on the table and they fly all over the place. Last Christmas when we were there we dined and the waiter came with a squeeze ketchup container and asked my daughter if she wanted some. He squeezed it and it looked like ketchup was flying out all over her cloths, but it was a red cord. You should have seen the look on my daughters face. When it come time to pay the bill he took my credit card. After 3 or 4 minutes he came back, got everyone's attention in the restaurant and then yelled out "Mr Gropp, the credit card company has told me that your card is.....(after a short pause ) Good". We had a real character that night

oh my, i can't wait til we go, we going for a late lunch is august, first time we will have been, sounds like a laugh!

IMO, its not as exciting as this thread is making it out to be. We've been there twice - even though we didn't enjoy it the first time, we really wanted to like it and give it a second chance. We still didn't like it

If the food were good, we could look past the corny antics, but we didn't even like the food. In all fairness DH and I hate anything that is smoked and it seemed that everything we had had a smoked flavor to it.

The place is always jam packed, so someone must like it. Just not us.

Well we got the full anti......

Ketchup all over our table
Giant drinks if we asked for refills
My sisters 50th birthday and she had to do the hokey pokey in front of everyone and sing
pony races around the place forthe kids
threw napkins at the kids and told them not to be messy

It was fun but not something I need to do more than once, the kids loved it the adults were like OK it is fun once but feel no need to return.

We went for dinner once and for the life of me couldn't get any antics out of our waitress. She threw the straws on the table, but the kids were watching more interesting antics accross the room. My son ordered several cokes, but no big glass. I had even spent an hour sewing a pillow case and painting it with a big $ sign to resemble a big bag of bank money to aid as a prop--nothin'.

That said, the food was reasonable, I am a fan of smoked meats. And the Wilderness Lodge and grounds are a must see.

Is this the same place as the HoopDeeDo Dinner Show? I was told by Dining CM that they do the same antics at HDD.

What everyone has written about sounds like fun, just like to know which one to do. Thanks.

Apart from throwing the straws, our waiter did'nt provide any antics. Only 1 normal refill, ds had to wait ages for his burger, that had been left of his plate. We did enjoy it though, food was good, kid's activities fun but service poor.

Not even close - HDDR is a dinner show. WHere there are performers on the stage and you sit at your dining table and watch them.

At WCC they are wise-cracking waiters and waitresses. That CM should be fired if that's what he is telling people.

The waitstaff at the WC are just like everyone else - they sometimes have a bad day or are tired. On our trip, the waiter at one table next to ours was dealing with a group of sourpusses and finally gave up trying to make it fun (they griped and complained the whole time); our table and the rest of the restaurant on the other hand had a ball. The waiters take every opportunity to make noise and cut up with everyone. It was just a whopping good time.

There was absolutely nothing going on when we went. I'd prepped my son for stick horses, silly waiters, etc. and nada. Not that I really minded since I don't personally enjoy that stuff, but it was really subdued. And it wasn't just our table - nothing was going on at any other tables either. We just ordered, got our food, ate, and left. :confused3 We were there for lunch and had the all you can eat skillet. It wasn't awful, but nothing worth writing home about. It was great for my son because there were several items that he liked on there - mashed potatoes, sausage, chicken, corn bread, corn on the cob.

The thing my kids remember most about WCC was that our male waiter took my daughter's pink Minnie Mouse ears and wore them the whole time he served us. They thought that was hysterical.

We loved the WCC. It's loud, fun, and has great BBQed meat. Just our style :thumbsup2
