You know, I think we've only ever eaten at Videopolis and the Cowboy Cookout when it was a CS.

So would love to heear you best/worst counter service meal in the main park. (Very familiar with WDS and Village foods)

Thanks :)

I haven't tried them all, but as both my DD and I like pasta/pizza, our favourites are Pizzeria Bella Notte, and Colonel Hathi's.

My least favourite is Caseys - I just don't get it I'm afraid (hot dogs and rubber cheese, nope, not for me).

I really love the Fuente del oro CS restaurant in Frontierland (in front of the BTM). I don't eat mexican food often but I like it very much, so in every trip we eat there at least once. It has food very different from the usual burger stuff, nice for a change.

I haven't tried Earl of Sandwich in the Village, but I tried it in Orlando and I'm sure next time I'll eat there often :)

I really, really, really hate Videopolis. It's not for the food itself, but because it has tables from which you can see the show. People tend to stay there forever and never leave, without any consideration for people with their trays on hand looking for a free table where to eat.
I once had my money back for my lunch I had to eat cold and standing because we didn't find a table, while there where many people without food at all sit at tables. It was the new year day and the restaurant manager said they did not have enough CM working that day checking people without food at the restaurant. :scared1:

I avoid the burger counter service restaurants completely, and only use them if there are absolutely no other options available.

The food has always jsut been average for us, and TBH jsut ate in videopolis as it's where we were when we were hungry and it was deserted. Sat and watched cartoons for half an hour with a burger.

Fuente del Oro was shut last trip, but we love Mexican so might give it a go. I think we started queueing for Belle Notte once, and it was insanely busy so we gave up. That was July peak season though, so hopefully in May it'll be a bit quieter!

I'll second that :thumbsup2 And if you look in the restaurant sticky I've put a review with pics

Really love the EoS. We eat there once a week and only one sandwich wasn't nice for me - Caribbean Jerk Chicken - I found it too dry. I love the wraps and the puddings are fab too

I agree with that too ;) but I also really don't like the burgers in there. Cold to start with and so over priced. The queues are horrendous. If I want a burger I go to McDo in the Village

I also like Hakuna Matata as it's different to the other offerings having an African slant and the decor in the restaurant is really nice.

I don't get Caseys either. We went once and it was nasty, cold, rubbery and terribly over priced.:confused3

We loved EoS last time - very filling.

In the Studios I like the Blockbuster Cafe - the Croque's are delicious and could easily be shared between 2.

We had a lovely meal in Videopolis one day, and enjoyed the cartoons. I thought the food was fine for what we needed.

Toad Hall is also really nice for fish and chips - a change from the normal burgers etc.

Can't think of anywhere we really didn't like.

Favourite: Either Market House Deli for the croques or Colonel Hathi's for the pizza meal deal they have (although it's far too much for one person- we will share next time!).

Least favourite: Café Hyperion, because it always seems to be packed and the food is mediocre.

I too am a fan of Pizzeria Bella Notte Ive ate there quite a few times! Always loved it. Think the pizzas are great tasting and good value for money!

Other than that the other place we ate alot at, was the Newyork Style sandwich in the village, Fries and chicken strips. Fairly filling and tasted good.

I have read great great reviews about Earl of Sandwich! Im hoping to try it one day im there next time. (across the way toCafe Mickeys in the village, looking out to the Disneylake), Its a new one for me! As it wasnt there when i last went in 2009:)

My favourites in the main park are Fuente del Oro then Colonel Hathi's and Hakuna Matata. Also like Toad Hall (both for the decor and the yummy fish and chips) and Pizzeria Bella Notte.

I don't get the hot dogs with cheese from Casey's either :confused3 although sometimes my DDs have asked for hot dogs without the cheese. I prefer to give them a miss, they're too much like those hot dogs in tins for my liking!

Worst place IMO is definitely Cafe Hyperion - we went there in the days of the Lion King show and agree it was the worst food in the park although it was a good way of getting to see the show without having to queue for a ticket. A few summers ago (2008 actually) I'd read on here that they'd added a toppings bar so we went along to give it another try then promptly changed our minds. There were two toppings bars and people were letting their children climb all over them  how yuck is that!! So after two strikes that place is out as far as I'm concerned.

Favourites:

Restaurant en Coulisse - widest menu choice and it's always easy to get a seat.
Colonel Hathi's - Well themed, normally quiet and I like the Pizza's.
Toad Hall - Fish and chips in Disney! Plus you're eating in Toad Hall!

Worst:

Au Chalet de la Marionnette - Always very busy, worst food choice.
Cafe Hyperion - It's very dark in there, it's not the best menu and the place is starting to feel a bit tatty. It also irk's me that there is no show in there any more.

If it's hot outside, I'd add Pizzeria Belle Notre to the favourites list. It's a great place to sit outside and watch people walk by. Especially with Small World in the background!

I'm adding my bleah to Cafe Hyperion and to a lesser extent to Casey's.

I used to love Victoria's Homestyle - but they keep changing the menus there, and each time the menu seems more limited. They have one of the most versatile table options - inside the restaurant, inside the passageway behind it, and outside with a view of the now defunct stage in front of the castle.

Really enjoyed Hakuna Matata, Fuente del Oro and Toad's Hall. Haven't tried Colonel Hathi's or Bella Notte.

The absolute worst thing about almost all the counter service places is the queue for food (it's really not surprising that they aren't called fast food) - and I'm laying a lot of the blame on customers (there's menus all over the place but so many people don't seem to even attempt to make up their minds until they are being served). And that's all I'm going to say on the matter, as otherwise I'll end up having a rant.

Even though you didn't ask about Studios, I have to add that I also really like the Blockbuster Cafe - especially if not at rush hour - there's loads of tables, lots to look at, and the food is tasty and gives a good impression of being relatively healthy.

Nothing to say re EOS (yum). PS Thanks for tip re bread and butter pudding Carrie.

I love the setup of Blockbuster Cafe. You just pick the food up yourself so there's no waiting for it to be cooked and you don't have to wait for people to make up their mind! I hate the HMS theming though and have never managed to get a seat in the Pirates bit.

When Pizza Planet was counter service it used a similar setup to Blockbuster Cafe. You just picked up the food you wanted and took it to the till. It's does feel a bit school canteen-ish but it's much quicker!

I liked Hakuna Matata and Market House Deli. I have only brought chips and coke at casey's.

We love Blockbuster Cafe in Studios purely for ease of getting and paying for your food. Never had a problem getting a seat (in the pirates bit which we love) but we try to choose carefully when we eat to avoid lunch time rush.

We also love the Cable Car Bakeshop on Main Street for getting teas/coffees and having a lil break :goodvibes

Top 3 for us would be:

Fuente del Oro -DS had the Fajitas and spicy wedges meal and I had the Churros and a Coffee, all very nice and I would return just for the Churros.

Colonel Hathi's - we had the Pizza meals with side salad, dessert and a drink, really good value for money, you could easily share 1 of these meals between 2.

Hakuna Mata - we had the spicy chicken with rice and a side order of their spicy fries between us, again really nice and tasty although, the fries did repeat on me for the rest of the day.

:goodvibes
