I was wondering if anyone else has gotten a job for the sole purpose of funding trips to WDW? :)

I'm an RN, but have been a SAHM for the past few years. Last month, I applied for and got a job at a hospital working weekends when dh can be home w/ the kids. I have all my earnings directly deposited into a savings acct. to be used only for vacations. :p

Is that crazy?

I don't think this is crazy at all. I think it's great that you're working when your husband can be with the kids. I do hope that you all have enough time together as a family, however. I do before/after school daycare. Even though I don't put the $ in a separate account, I do earmark it for trips and don't feel guilty when I use some for my (or our) fun. I've thought about getting a job outside the home, but want to wait until my 4yo is in school so some of my working hours will be when the kids are at school. I don't want to lose all my family weekend time.

I got my business degree in Dec 95, had 2nd chile in Jan 96, moved in March of 96. Then thought about getting a job.....but daycare for 2, gas for car (35 miles one way to biggest town with opportunities), clothes and we decided we could do without things and I would stay home with the girls. Plus we had babysitter problems with daughter #1. Didnt think it was worth the risk again.

SO I stayed home. WHen she got ready to go to KDG. I was having some serious seperation anxiety and my mother in law suggested substituting. I told her I couldnt get up in front of those kids. But you know what? They are just kids. You can pick what days you want to work, or who you want to work for. No weekends or holidays. I personally think it is the best part time job out there.

We have been planning this vacation only since Jan of 2004. And I put ALL of my check in the savings acct and that is our Disney fund. So far there is over $3k.

Hi Momtotwingles.... I am also an RN and I work every weekend (weekend Option) for the past 4 years. The money is great and plus I'm home with my 2 kids during the week. So, I don't think at all that it is crazy. You would be so surprised how much money you can save. Good Luck:wave2:

I didn't actually get a job to go to Disney. I wasn't even looking for a job. But my old company asked me to come in one day a week. We are already going on a cruise in the summer, but once I got the job, I told my DH "I want to go to WDW in Nov. with my new earnings". So, that's what I'm saving this money for.

Not doing too good with cheap airfare though :( I'm trying to keep this trip to around $4,000.00 (monorail is a must for us).

I got a second job to fund our 1st trip, then they offered me better hours/pay then my 1st job so I left the 1st for the 2nd. Confused? lol. Now 1/2 my pay goes into my WDW account. I was able to pay for our 1st and 2nd trip and am working on the 3rd one now!!!
