I was thinking why don't we have our own little movie review post... Has anyone seen any new movies that they want to talk about.. I will go first.. as I just saw

Secrets of Ya-Ya Sisterhood.. I gave it a 7, although a great ensemble cast..Maggie Smith, Ashley Judd, Ellen Burstyn, Sandra Bullock, James Garner, Shirley Knight and Fionula (sp) Flanagan, it should have been terrific.. I think it missed the mark somehow.. the music was terrific, scenes with Ashley Judd were powerful..

Anyone else??

I saw About a Boy with Hugh Grant and Toni Collette. I thought that it was a wonderful movie. Hugh Grant (who IMO did a good job in Bridget Jones) is not playing his "normal character." The child actor (can't remember his name :o ) wasn't a typical Hollywood cute kid, and I thought he gave a very mature performance for a child his age. Toni Collette did a great job as she always does. Of course, since I'm giving the review , no one will probably want to see it.

I am dying to see this.. my daughters loved it.. I am reading the book too and I can so picture Hugh Grant in this role..

OK.. I watched today on my DVD player Blackhawk Down.. I am not a big war movie person but felt the need to see this one as it is based on events that happened in my lifetime.. I have a screaming headache as I bawled my everloving eyes out.. very graphic and very tense.. I am not sorry I watched it.. it was a good war movie..

DD and I saw Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood on Friday also...I loved it and I agree with Mackey....a 7 is good. Ashley Judd was AWESOME!!! I really like her as an actress anyway and I thought James Gardner did a great job in his small role also. Very loving man that has stayed and kept things together for the sake of his family......

The other one I've seen recently is (I know this is sad)...Spirit - Stallion of Cimeron.....I thought this was an EXCELLENT movie for it being G rated. It was animated wonderfully, the music is great, and it kept you on the edge of your seat in parts of the movie. It is one of the greatest kids movies I've seen outside of Disney in a LONG time!!!

I REALLY want to see Ya-Ya and About A Boy! :bounce:
I LOVED Black Hawk Down...very 'edge of your seat' movie.
I thought Spirit was excellent! I appreciate the way they didn't have the horses use 'human talk'....you could really 'feel' the movie and emotions through the horse's head movements---incredible! :)

Okay, you all know that I don't live near a movie theatre, but the latest movie I went to see was while I was in Disney...DH and I saw "Unfaithful" with Diane Lane...I really hate to say anything because the movie itself was excellent, I thought...but the ending, well left me saying, "What??" LOL...I would be curious to see how others felt...

Okay, that is all I have to add! LOL

I totally agree about the ending of Unfaithful. My girlfriends and I looked at each other and said, that's it?

I think they could have made the movie so much better.

Unfaithful--so glad that I wasn't the only one who said, "HUH?" at the end!

About a Boy--haven't seen. Never really had an urge to, but I DO like Hugh Grant, so maybe......

Secrets of Ya-Ya Sisterhood--don't really know what this is about. But just today a friend asked me to go see it with her, so will probably see it later this week.

Spirit--haven't seen, but will be taking Katelyn to it soon, I'm sure!

Blackhawk Down--NO WAY!! I can't do that to myself again! Kevin, Jared, and my dad went to see it. But, I just can't watch war movies anymore, since September 11th. Kevin and I went to see We Were Soldiers, and I thought it was a good movie. But, I couldn't sleep and couldn't stop crying for days! I was VERY sorry I had seen it.:( :( :( :( :( :(

I vaguely remember as a child, my grandmother always laughing and in her Sunday Best when talked about "Ya-Ya..."...lol.

I'll have to ty seeing Black Hawk Down, thank you for the info.

I just saw the Sum Of All Fears. It was O.K., but Harrison Ford really made the character in the other movies like Patriot Games.

I'm looking foward to hat new Speilberg/Cruise science fiction movie coming out this week.

RaySharpton :)

I am not really sure I want to see Blackhawk Down now...I wasn't too sure before I had read these reviews, but I definitely think I might just skip this one...I become way to emotional over things like this...

Has anyone seen Scooby-Doo yet?? I am dying to hear some reviews on this movie! LOL

Hi, Beanie, you're up early, too! I hear Scoby Doo was #1 this week with $59,000,000.00 in sales.

I went and saw Enough. I knew that the movie had not gotten good reviews, but I really like Jennifer Lopez. I should have listened to the reviewers. :D :p :) It just wasn't very good. When we had been watching the movie for a while, Alan asked me if this was the longest movie in history. I looked at his watch and we had been watching the movie for an hour. :o

Well I have seen

Ya Ya Sisterhood....good movie, but sort of expected a bigger payoff at the end.

Spiderman - Excellent movie, it is nice to see an action movie where the actors can actually act.

Star Wars II - Attack of the clones...Much better than the Phantom menace, but the Special FX were a bit over the top, which detracted from the movie. But still fine escapist fun.

The Bourne Identity - not be a huge Matt Damon fan, this one cought me by suprise ...VERY GOOD movie, and Damon handled the fight scenes extremely well.

Minority Report... Nearly flawless, I can not recommend this one enough.

It is really sad but I have already seen more good movies this year than I did in the entire year last year. It is a good year for the movies.

Still waiting to see Scooby Doo, Lilo & Stich, Insomnia, and a couple of more I can't think of right now.

Thanks for the reviews, Patrick! I haven't seen THE MINORITY REPORT, but it's on my list now!

THE BOURNE IDENTITY-I enjoyed this one, too. Although, I had to have Kevin explain it to me on the way home! HAHA

SPIDERMAN and STAR WARS-I let the rest of the family go without me to see these two. It would be a waste of money for me! Although, they enjoyed them both, especially SPIDERMAN.

YA-YA SISTERHOOD-going to see this with a friend Thursday night. Looking forward to it.

LILO & STITCH-Katelyn and I went to see this yesterday. We both loved it! Katelyn was already in love with Stitch! HAHA

SCOOBY DOO-haven't seen. Jared and Katelyn saw this while Kevin and I saw THE BOURNE IDENTITY.

INSOMNIA-saw it a while back. I really liked it! Really strange to see Robin Williams in a non-comedic role!

THE SUM OF ALL FEARS-really liked this one, too! A "little" less confusing for me than THE BOURNE IDENTITY! HAHA

We've been going to a lot of movies lately. With our A/C not working, it feels really good to freeze at the theater!

I finally saw the Rookie this past weekend.. I love Dennis Quaid and thought it was a decent Disney movie.. I cried at the appropriate places and cheered when I should... I liked it.. and am glad I finally saw it.. I am going to watch Monster's Ball, the one Halle Berry won best actress for.. I will report back on that one..

I definitely want to see Lilo and Stitch and Scooby Doo!

Dayna, I am disappointed about Enough...I had read the reviews as well, but seeing that I really like Jennifer Lopez, I was hoping the movie would still be good...Bummer that is isn't!

Insomnia...I don't know if I want to see this one either! LOL...I just cannot picture Robin Williams playing a "bad" man...It just doesn't seem right! LOL

Ray...thanks for the report! I am sure it is still doing incredibly well at the box office! :)
