Anybody get one of these yet?

Got it and automatically got booted from the room. I was playing the space game, quit that (hence the tomorrowland background) and tried to enter a room on the popular list. The wait line went from 28-0 in about 2 seconds, i got in for about 5 seconds and saw the room, and then boom...message and auto boot.

I like it in a way, will cut down on people just hanging out in a staffers, yavn's, or even us little peeps rooms when they are no longer there. Guess now everybody gets the boot when the owner leaves? Although i can also see how that could create problems. What if people want, or the OWNER wants people to be able to stay?

OMG, just had a wicked thought. You think everybody still going into the surf spot during the rat's ban had anything to do with this "new improvement?" :confused3

Actually didn't we get that message back during Beta? I know we haven't recently, but I remember when I first started playing getting kicked out.

But here's a thought...how many times during the maze event did the owner lose connection? Can you imagine everyone getting booted out after waiting behind 200 people?!?!?! Can we say angry mob?!?!?! I guess we should be glad they didn't implement that last weekend. :rotfl2:

Here is another concern. Does that message come up if you enter an empty room via teleporter? If so, that will make those obsolete and ruin the multiple rooms (such as game rooms and castles) as well as all of the teleporter networks. Hmmm.

Update - just entered one of the Castle rooms owned by another member of the castle family through the teleporter link. So far, no message booting me. So it appears the teleporters still work to get you into rooms not your own when the owner is not present.

Was it a staff room? I know staff sends that message when they do a room boot.

piratesmate, I do remember that during Beta. It was REALLY annoying when you were trying to run a game, and suddenly your connection dropped out.

OK - I just tried it. I have a coffin teleporter in one room that leads to a friend's room. He's not online right now but I was still able to enter his room & then take another teleporter to another of his rooms. I sat around for a few minutes, but didn't get booted. :confused3

Thanks Fly! I was hoping it wasn't another of those things that I only dreamed. I'd hate to be dreaming about VMK! The men in the white coats might come after me!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: Although as DSis, MsSocks, likes to say "My family coat of arms ties in the back." :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hey!
Actually, I think this only happens when the room name is found to be unacceptable. Never had that happen when the owner left the room.

Yes, this was how VMK worked in very early Beta.

If they re-instituted it, multi-room mazes would be impossible, unless each room of the maze was owned by a different person, and that each owner sat in the room the entire time and never lost connection.

Because of these issues, I kind of doubt that they'd re-institute the requirement that a room owner be in a room for others to be in the room.

Who knows though; the VMK has done plenty of inexplicable things.

well y'all got me scratching my head now. No it wasnt a staff room, just a plain old game room being run by a normal person (not even a CL at that lol).

So hey, your guess is as good as mine. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I"think"that it just shows up randomly.I have never experienced this problem before. After all, wouldn't it be hard to do games?

Is is a new feature that the owner of the room can set, to allow or not allow people in his room after he leaves?

I also remember the Beta days when you got booted if the owner left the room. I think must of us probably did the happy dance when they changed that! :) I'm guessing that staff had a reason for clearing that room out when they did, and if it was a normal player's room, it is most likely that something inapproprite was taking place. :earseek: I have heard of that happening when staff wanted to stop some behavior, such as in the table dancing rooms of yore.

I think its a message that VMK staff can send and boot if they happen to notice the owner is not in the room.

Never saw that message. In fact, I was in your room Moussedude, with your child and a bunch of other players. None of us got that message, and you were not present.

Lots of people like rooms so automatically booting someone for being in an unoccupied room does not make sense.

I got the message once in VMK Babs room, she was leaving and wanted the room cleared. I was in the middle of entering a code (kelloggs of course) and didnt leave right then and I got that message.

I think that staff can ask for it. A little later when we were back in her room she apologized and said that she had VMK send that message.

It would really cut down on waiting a half hour to get into a staff room and then finding that they were never there in the first place. That is frustrating for a lot of people.

I wonder if there is some kind of a time limit before they start booting you. I mean, what if the owner loses connection? Will everyone be booted for that?

I'm wondering too with the staibility issues they've had in VMK the last couple weeks if maybe that server was running a previously "released" version of VMK, you know what I mean? Go back to the last thing that worked sort of thing?

Just a thought...
