By a bed bug?

I read this, this morning on CNN. And it got me to thinking about a bite I woke with at WDW several years ago. Still to this day I have a small red spot on my leg from it. It could've been a spider or something, but I never thought of a bed bug until I read this:

On two occasions, we have encountered bites but not in the resort room. On the beach, by the pool and during a hay ride in Fort Wilderness. Same outcome, red dot, itches like nuts and is still there many months later. We even went to first aid and they gave us a gel for the itch. They say its sand mites, sand fleas or fire ants. Best bet to stop the itching, ammonia, for prevention, bug repellent. Don't know about bed bugs, never had any in all our trips to Disney. But that article was interesting.

my sister in law stayed at the all-star sports hotel and said everyone got fleas from the beds there. i dont know if she meant everyone at the entire hotel or everyone in her group. and maybe it was really bed bugs, not fleas. yuck!

If there are bites on your legs it can be No-See-Ums, too. Their bites itch like crazy and take a long time to clear up. No-see-ums are outside.

No-See-Um's I have always wondered if that was a regional name. Aren't they just small gnats or sand fleas?

I am from S.Shore as well, and I know exactly what bug you are talking about but don't know the real name. But I do know that you "no see um" but they itch like crazy!

Edited to add: About year ago during the fall while students go back to school around here I was watching the news about the resurgence of bed bugs. They said part of the problem around here in getting them in check was all the college kids swapping mattress's and sofa's etc and or getting them from the curb or second-hand etc. There was a women and her kids who had bites all over their legs, it was disgusting!

Ok, 1st I need to say YUCK!!!!!!


Then we just got back from WDW and I had 2 bites on my thigh that I don't know where they came from. They were big and more then just a misquito, they had some substance to them under my skin. They ichted like mad and we have been home over a week and they still bug me. (pun intended.)

I never saw a bug the whole trip. I figured it was no see ums. Now I really hope it was no see ums. Please let it be that.

No one else got any bites, hubby who slept in the same bed as me and either of the kids (baby was in a pack in play.)

Yuck. I would rather not think about it.

Yep...thats what I'm talking about. Its been a couple years and I still have the red circles.

Same bed....probably not bed bugs then....but I'm only quessing.

Oh good. Somehow even a spider bit seems preferable to those!!!

I was thinking about it later and since no one else ever got any, and I never got any more any other time I am guessing it wasn't.

Both hubb and I admited we both felt ichy all over for a few days after.

Maybe it was just the disney magic leaving our bodys after the trip!
