While in port, any time for SCUBA diving?

>>to dive ... you need to be certified!
But you do not need to be certified or have ANY dive experience to do the "Discover SCUBA Diving" port adventures, which are instructional introductions to Scuba diving, in shallow water. That is why, under the circumstances, I suggested this as an option for the OP.

Hey guys, I just wanted to bump this thread because I had a new question.

As I understand it, you must be PADI certified to go on the open water dives in Cozumel and Grand Cayman during excusions, and so I've been looking around for a local shop to become certified with, but the only shop I can find locally that trains people, certifies them via SSI (Scuba School International). Would this still count? I called the lady at the shop and she told me it would be fine and would absolutely count and I would be good to go. But is that true?

So, SSI vs PADI.... is there a difference? If I get certified in SSI instead of PADI, will they still let me open water dive in Cozumel and Grand Cayman? No problems?

Because I really want to experience the Palancar Caves! :clown:

PADI is most common but I have different certs through NAUI and SSI instead. You just need a valid cert, doesn't have to be PADI, and actually I just went to Disney's site and they just say a cert, don't need a PADI cert. Keep in mind some places may ask to see your dive log (so bring it - you'll want to log your dive anyway) or will at least ask if you've gone in the last 6 months so that the know you're current on your skills.
