Hi all,

Trying to decide between Summer Bay and Cypress Point. Both are 3 bedroom, and there will be 5 adults and 2 kids present. We don't plan on spending every day in the parks, wouldn't mind spending time at the resort. Which would you recommend and why? My kids are little so activites are important. Thanks for the info.

Never been to Summer Bay but we stayed at Cypress Point last April and my kids LOVED it...9,7 & 5. We spent 3 days just hanging out at the resort. They loved the Volcano pool, they played tennis, did the kids basketball games, played on the playground, went to a coloring contest one day...we did family mini-golf...there were activities going on all the time. Those are all we did because my kids are fishes and we spent most of the time swimming. We also stayed in the 3 bedroom and it was great. My husband is a little OC and he was very pleased with the condo and rated it a 10 in cleanliness right up there with the Disney Resorts. Plus you are maybe 5 minutes from Downtown Disney. We are definetely planning on staying here again someday :thumbsup2

If the Summer Bay 3BR option is a "sleeps up to 8" pool home at the "Houses at Summer Bay," then I'd take the 3BR house is a heartbeat. If it's a "sleeps 10" condo at the regular "Summer Bay Resort," then it's pretty comparable to Cypress Pointe. If it's at the "Villas at Summer Bay," the reviews are more mixed.

If you'll be visiting the Disney parks for 5 days out of your week... if you'll be returning to the resort midday sometimes and then going back to the park... if you plan to visit Sea World or Universal parks... THEN I'd choose Cypress Pointe for the closer commutes to the parks. Summer Bay is certainly a longer drive to Universal.

OTOH, if you enjoy lakeside activities (fishing, boating, watertoys and a water "gym")... if you plan to visit only Disney parks and only 3 or 4 days of the week... THEN I'd definitely choose Summer Bay. The lake adds another nice feature that's not available at Cypress Pointe. It may make your "off" days relaxing at the resort especially fun, if you like that stuff. It also seems closer to several golf courses, if that matters.

Both have poolside bar/grille areas, games rooms, other outdoor activities and organized events. They're both fun places to vacation and similar in quality overall, IMHO. Look at the websites for Summer Bay and Cypress Pointe for photos to help you make up your mind. Either would be a good choice. HTH! :)
