I decided to do a poll because I know everyones opinion varies greatly! The difference between value and deluxe is usually $200+ a night. say you are going for 7 nights, thats $1400 at least, would you
a) I am not in the room all that much ~stay in a value and save that $1400
b) Best of both worlds...a little nicer resort and a nicer room but not as pricey as a deluxe ~pick a mod and save about $700
c) go big or go home! You are in disney after all! Go deluxe!

I would go with option B, unless a discount code becomes available and I can get a deluxe for 30-40% off.

I would pick "c" and keep an eye out for discounts. My DH and I have stayed value, moderate, and deluxe and we by far prefer deluxe. I think I've been spoiled by staying deluxe. ;)We also have more of the mindset that this is vacation, the only vacation we get each year, so we splurge with what fits our budget.

Either option B or C. Whichever one fits into your budget. I don't think option A is really and option. We stayed at POR last September. We loved it. My mom is actually staying there when we go next year. We are upgrading to WL because of the bunk beds. My kids are too old (and opposite sex) to sleep in the same bed. Last year my son did the Murphy bed in POR but by next year he will be way to big for it. Now....the discounts on the deluxe resorts will obviously be more. If you are going with the free DDP, then depending on which one you chose, it will really be free. If you are in a moderate resort and want to upgrade to "plus dining" it will cost a little extra. If you are in a deluxe, it will be free. I know our vacation will be almost double when we go next year. That is why we have to wait a year. We save and pay on it for the next 12 months. We are adding a day, the water park and more option, and my son is now considered an "adult". So, back to your original...whichever fits in your budget. I am very excited to stay at a deluxe.

I voted for number one.

We make the resort part of our vacation. We will go back in the afternoon to rest at the pool, eat at the restaurants, explore the resort and the grounds, if we have a balcony sit out on it in the morning and evenings.

If all you are using it for is a place to sleep, save your money or have fun spending some of it on souvenirs.

Personally I think a moderate is a great compromise. We don't like value, but love deluxe, however we only stay deluxe when there is a good discount. Moderate resorts are more reasonably priced and they are far more like 'deluxes' than 'values' in my opinion.

Then again, we pay a lot for flights and so couldn't justify just paying for value and not enjoying ourselves as much as we would in a moderate or deluxe resort.

I voted for the mod. We've never stayed Value, they just don't appeal to us. We've done Mods (POR, CSR, POFQ) and Deluxe (Poly, WL.) When budget allows and we get a great discount, we of course prefer Deluxe - as a matter of fact, we're staying at the Poly in 16 days! However, we love our mod stays just as much. They each offer something that the other doesn't. We choose to go every year. We really can't afford to do Deluxe every year, so going with the mods every once in a while enables us to go Deluxe occasionally. That's just what works for us!

I voted for deluxe. We've never stayed at a value and have only stayed at one mod and while we loved the mod and had a great trip, the deluxe resorts fit our vacationing style better. We spend more time at the resort than at the parks, so the resort is an important part of our trips as we love the extra amenities the deluxes offer.

I say middle ground -- go for Moderate. It has a number of perks over the value, but still saves money!

I go for Deluxe we purposely plan Resort time plus I enjoy the restaurants at the Deluxe resorts. We have stayed at Mods 3x but prefer Deluxe. Never stayed at any of the Values and most likely won't be.

I opted for a Mod.

I stayed at ASMu once with DD and on the morning of our second day I upgraded to CSR. We don't spend much time in our room but I couldn't get past how small the room actually was. I felt like I was sleeping in a rundown motel instead of a Disney resort. :sad2:

I love my Deluxe resorts but unless I have more resort time than usual planned I skip booking unless a 30% or 40% PIN code is released. The only times I was content paying rack rate was when DD was barely a toddler. I'm a single parent it made life a whole lot easier when juggling a baby and their entourage of necessities.

Mod resorts are my happy medium and I've loved every one I've stayed in except CBR. They're a huge step up from Value (in the way of room size, dining options, and landscaping) but aren't a great deal more expensive. All in all though, you need to do what you feel is best for your family.

It's really hard to choose. We picked value (suite at AoA) and adored it. We did the DDxP and got to take the kids to character and Signature meals the entire trip. We had a fantastic time there.

We are doing Beach Club CL this time - no DDxP. I'm expecting it to be a somewhat different, but equally enjoyable vacation.

The only one I'm not sold on is the moderates. None of them appeal to me.

I voted for deluxe! :goodvibes

And I'll raise you a club level. :thumbsup2

When we made the jump from values/mods to deluxes, I was seriously worried that it wouldn't be "worth it" but oh my, how we have loved our deluxe CL stays. It's like an addiction. I can appreciate how some don't feel it is worth it, but ever since we started staying deluxe we have really slowed down our Disney trips...to such an enjoyable pace that we no longer need a vacation from our vacation.

We usually do 10 nights and for that 10 nights we allow ourselves a little "luxury" and it's soooo worth it!

Now mind you, we have done the past two years (CL stays) at a 40% discount. I think a great discount is essential as rack rates are crazy! :crazy2:

We travel from CA and, because of the distance, we go less often (only every few years) to be able to afford deluxe. Not so much going 'big', or fancy, but do think the location and convenience of the of the deluxe resorts are worth the extra money. At least to us it is.
Such and individual thing, but sure hope you have a great stay.

I voted for C. If its in your budget then go for it. For me, I would stick with either B or C but you can't go wrong no matter what you pick.

Resort swimming is very important to us and the value resorts don't have the swimming facilities we like. We prefer the resorts that have quiet pools such as POR or CBR. The values and moderates do have one huge advantage over the deluxe resorts and that is a significantly bigger food court with more choices. This is one area that some of the deluxe resorts are very weak in.

We like to take more than one vacation a year to places other than Disney so we don't like to blow our vacation budget all in one place!! When we are at Disney, we go for the parks. When we go to the beach or a more relaxing vacation, we like a nicer resort. Just our experience :). If this is a one time trip or you don't expect to go often, I would change my vote to c.
