My 40th birthday is coming up this next Feb. I would like to go on a nice trip for it. The last two years we have gone to WDW for our vacation. I would love to return, but I think DH might be a bit tired of it, and would want to do something new.
So my brilliant first thought was a Disney cruise, then the other thought was Disneyland.
I am leaning towards the cruise, but I am worried I will miss out on the fun of the rides and the park experience. And DD will be 4 next year. I know she loves the parks, but I'm sure she will enjoy the cruise as well.
Which would you pick? I will ultimately pick one myself, but would just love to hear why you would pick one or the other.

The cruise! Hubby and I have been on several cruises (not Disney though) and Love Love cruising!! Where else can you get a traveling hotel room :rotfl2: We've been to Disney though too. Try something new! DD will no doubt love the activities they'll have on the boat for her. And if you end up not liking it, then you'll have at least tried it :thumbsup2 Either way, have fun!!

My 40th is coming in Feb. too! We are going to WDW for it, though, so I guess Im no help !

The cruise! Definitely :thumbsup2

From what I've heard...it's awesome! Your 4yo will love it too!!

Cruise!

I took my hubby on Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas for this 40th....took my niece on Carnival's Glory for her senior graduation gift...and then did a Thanksgiving week cruise on the Disney Magic because I couldn't handle the thought of baking yet another turkey (can't stand turkey!).

My point is cruising is wonderful. Disney cruises are very expensive so don't be afraid to stick to your budget. You can find a cruise to fit any budget.

Royal Caribbean was an excellent first cruise...everything we expected (though the food was only good as opposed to excellent). Carnival (which we were concerned about because of it's "party" reputation) was also good (service a bit lax...but food...yummmmmy and cruise director staff excellent). Disney was very expensive. Food ranged from very good to just OK. Service was excellent and Castaway Cay (their private island) was wonderful!

If you need a referral to a good cruise travel agent, let me know. I have one that I really like.

I would opt for the Disney cruise just to have a different experience. DCL is different than other cruise lines, but very nice. I suprised the family with a DCL cruise before and everyone had a blast-even DH who gets Disney overload sometimes. I don't think you'll be disappointed. :goodvibes

maybe a 3 night land/4 night sea parks/cruise package? so you dont miss the parks, but still get the cruise aspect?

I'd do both. You could do the land/sea package offered or book them separately to customize the trip more for you. We found it to be cheaper to book the land and sea portions separately. For us, 3 full days in the parks followed by a 4 day cruise is ideal.

Well, we have been to WDW quite a few times. I promised my DH we would take a year off. Then my 40th birthday started to roll around and when asked what I wanted to do, I said Disneyland!!lol BUT, we are adding some days to explore San Diego and even a day in Mexico, so the trip is ALL about Disney. I do have to say though, that a cruise sounds really nice too.

I would do a land and sea package (even if self-made). I'd do the cruise and a few days before the cruise at WDW.

Thanks for the thoughts. Evidently no one is big on Disneyland. I think it would be fun as I have never been to CA.
If we chose the cruise, it would definately be DCL and not any others. (I have cruised before, but not with DD) And the land sea package would be out. We can only be gone usually 5 nights max as we are dairy farmers and can't get away for very long. (Well I can, but DH can't/won't) Plus like I said, I think he is tired of the World a bit. But if he said we could go there, I would od the whole trip there. I never seem to get in all I want to do!
Last year we got there late on a Sunday night and left early on a Thursday and with a little one, it was really hard to do it all. This year we arrived Sunday afternoon and left Fri afternoon and did alot more, but DD got sick on Thurs, so it slowed us up, and we had to take turns staying with her while the other did stuff.
Thanks for all the ideas. And keep them coming.:cool1:
