Which would you pick? (Poly)

I am adding a few solo days to a work conference. I currently have two reservations at the Poly. One is for a standard view deluxe studio room (DVC part) and the other is for a standard view room (non-DVC). The prices are similar with the standard hotel room being ~$17/night cheaper. Which one would you keep?

The DVC studio will give you two bathrooms and a kitchenette with a microwave. There is one queen bed and a sofa bed. There is very little storage. Also, all studios have a balcony. They are located at the end of the Poly closest to the TTC.

The hotel room will have one bathroom, two queen beds and a bathroom. Third floor rooms have a balcony and first floor rooms have a patio. Second floor rooms have sliding doors that open directly on a rail. The hotel rooms are located closest to the marina, lava pool, boat dock and GCH.

I personally prefer the hotel rooms, but it is a matter of personal preference, I suppose. Either one is great.

Enjoy!

I agree, either one would be great, although my preference is a regular room as well.

Regular room. Simply because I much prefer being close to the GCH, pools, etc like a pp stated. The longhouses that are now DVC were built years after the resort opened so I always think of them as an "after thought" by the imagineers (which fits in perfectly with DVC IMO!) The Moorea longhouse is too far from the GCH and too close to the TTC IMO. But some people love it.

I'd go hotel room, but that's a personal preference as I generally do not want to see a kitchen of any kind on vacation!

Unless you need the second bathroom and the kitchenette of the studio, then I think the hotel room would be appropriate. If you haven't seen the studios and just want to experience that then go for it. Not a huge price difference, so really it just depends on what you want to experience on your trip, I think either or will be great!

Thanks for the replies! I originally booked the deluxe studio at the time because that was all that was open in the price range I was willing to spend. I was looking the other day and the standard room became open. I won't use the kitchen but was unsure if I'd like having the couch instead of the extra bed.

Looking forward to staying at the Poly! I haven't stayed here since I was a kid. I'm doing a split stay with POR because work is paying for the other days of the trip, and would never reimburse me the cost of staying at the Poly.

The regular rooms have a sofa as well as 2 queens. The only thing about the hotel rooms are 2nd floors don't have balconies. So if a balcony is important either request a 3rd floor, or go with DVC, All floors in Tokelau have balconies, and I liked that location before they turned DVC.
