Despite our lovely 10% "break" on UPH passes as DVC members, DH and I have always been staunch advocates of the PHP passes. We always get 7day PHP, and often have days left on them after a trip to transfer to our next trip. Since we've been "DVC-ers", we've really enjoyed the non-commando pace, too -- we frequently alternate park days with non-park days. We love our "days off" as we call them, to just explore the resorts, DTD, etc.

So for our upcoming 12 day adventure -- I thought, 7 day PHPs. And then I read about those FITS passes. For roughly the same (in some cases, less) moolah as a 7day PHP, we could get our entire trip covered by one of these. And it would allow us to go to a water park and park in same day, if we wanted, without feeling like we "burned" a plus day and park day all in one day. And DQ is included (my boys are dying to go there). And it includes Kennedy SC (which I really want the kids to see. We drive down -- it's doable at the end of the trip!) Do any other DVCers ever use these passes? They semm almost too good to be true -- for the life of me I can't figure out what Disney gains by selling these when a 5 night -6 day UPH via advance purchase is the same price (and this ticket gives you 30 days!)

If we got this type ticket -- what are the drawbacks? Will we lose our nice, easy-going vacation style and become pre-DVC commando again? (I could totally see DH feeling like, if he has a ticket, by golly, he should be using it!) We are going in August -- perhaps a good way to look at this is -- same time in the parks, but instead of on a day, off a day, we could go on in the early am and late pm -- "off" during the peak heat, lounging around the pool! That really appeals to me -- August can be brutal! But waht if it rains, or one of our kids gets ill? With a PHP, we keep our "unsed" park days. With the FITS -- well, bye-bye once day 30 arrives.

Also -- does it help if all of your guests have the same type passes? We will have guests at varying points of the trip. My sister & her crew usually get UPH's but SIL/BIL seems more interested in PHP passes and taking "days off" as we did on our last trip. They will be with us for 9 of the 12 days. Would it be worth it for them to get FITS or better to just get 7day PHP? (Lastly I should note -- we don't consider APs because we tend to do WDW only every other year.)

THanks in advance for your sage advice...<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/346.gif' alt='A-ha!' border=0></a>

We also usually buy the 7 day PHPs and make them last for 2 or even 3 trips. We also like days off as well as days at Sea World, etc. I guess the other ticket would be nice though. Say you hang out at the pool all day and decide to go to EPCOT for dinner, you could do that. This is a tough decision. We generally go every 12 to 18 months but we never stay quite as long as you are staying. Just think about day by day what your schedule will be and try to decide from that. I don't think we would ever do a park and a water park on the same day though, our kiddos would be too worn out!

What is a FITS pass?

They are Fun In The Sun passes. I believe they are for those who go to WDW for an extended period of time and are available seasonally. They are marketed to visitors from outside the U.S. but anyone can purchase one. But I don't know much else about them.

Check out what Mousesavers and AllEarsNet.com have to say about these types of passes (FITS = Fun in the Sun; covers 30 consecutive days!). I had always understood that the FITS pass was to be sold only by foreign travel agents, and was designed specifically for UK, European and Australian visitors. The UK and European visitors have longer "Holidays" than we do here in North America, plus they have that pricy long godaweful transatlantic flight to get here.

I believe Mousesavers notes that there are brokers who will sell these to North American visitors. I am not sure whether Disney would ever deny anyone the tickets if they had bought the vouchers and turn out not to come from the target countries, but according Mousesavers notes that they have never heard of anyone having a problem with this.
