In DHS, would you rather go to Sci-Fi or 50's Prime Time. I'm most interested in the experience than in gourmet food :rotfl2:. I really wanted Mama Melrose, but its sold out. And as much as I would like to eat at one of the restaurants at the Beach Club / Boardwalk, we don't want to leave the park (getting there late as is, so I don't want to spend time traveling for food), so thats not an option.

TIA!

Both are great, if you have a group of 4 or more 50's is a lot of fun. CMs seem to interact more with larger groups. Food is good, several choices, LARGE portions. Kids seem to enjoy Sci Fi. Less menu selection, but then I don't like hamburger for table service meal. There are other items to choose from. So either way you go you won't be disappointed.

If you want more of an experience, then Sci-Fi wins hands down. The atmosphere is amazing. So much fun. Whats not to like? You sit in a car and watch movies while you eat! The food is not gourmet, and i've heard many slam this place...but to tell you the truth, i've always had very tasty dishes here. I love their ribs, never fatty, always yummy...cheeseburgers are great too. Shakes are also yummy! When i book restaurants, its not only the food im after....its also the experience. I'd recommend Sci Fi over 50's. Even thou 50's was fun, i was disappointed with the food. I found the fried chicken to be waaaay too salty. Table next to us said the same. After battling the heat and crowds all day, the last thing I want is salty food. And im not sensitive to salty foods either!

I love the 50s Prime Time Cafe! The atmosphere is so fun and the food is really good. :goodvibes

I've only been to 50's & loved the fried chicken meal, so I picked that. We had a good time there but my family wasn't as impressed with the food as I was.

We are going to Sci Fi next month so I can compare better then.

I was VERY disappointed with the Sci-fi in March. Thought the menu wasn't very good for a table service restaurant and it was also too dark! Maybe we were just unlucky because the time before it was ok. Much prefer the 50's Prime Time, far more fun, nicer menu.:)

I voted Sci-fi. We had had a great server at 50's and a not so great another time. Sci-fi will always have the cars and the movies playing!

We have eaten at both and although I prefer the menu at Sci-Fi, if it is an experiance you are wanting an experiance you will get a 50's Prime Time. It was by far the funniest meal we have ever eaten, a good sense of humor is required though, my dad was less than impressed when he was scolded for using his phone.

My thoughts exactly! I enjoy both restaurants but if I can only do one, its always going to be Sci Fi. I find the food at both equal for the most part, but the atmosphere at Sci Fi wins hands down. I enjoy the antics to a point, but have to be in the mood for them. Sci Fi is always something I am in the mood for!

I enjoyed both restaurants but would definitely choose 50's Primetime if I could only have one. We had a great experience at both but didn't care for the movies at Sci-Fi. Servers at 50s were hilarious!

I like the atmosphere at sci-fi... but not the menu. we ate at 50's this past trip and it was very good!!

We haven't eaten at either yet, but we are giving Sci-Fi a try on our upcoming trip. Next week! :cool1: I thought our girls would enjoy the movie clips and eating in a car. :)

DH and I agree on this one, 50's. The menu is bigger, and the Mom can be really great. My DH ran out of soda on our last trip, and he kept slurping until Mom refilled his drink.

Anyone going to 50's should order a Chocolate Malt. It was by far the best malt I had ever had in my life. I will eat there again just to get the malt!!

Wow, I can't believe how close the voting is - You guys aren't helping much!!! :rotfl2::lmao:

Seriously though, I guess it just means that they are both good places, so either way, we will have a great night. Thanks guys!!

I've done both and Sci-Fi Diner is by far my favorite. The simulated envirenment that you are in an outdoor drive in theater at night is really fun for kids, and getting to sit in a car to eat is fun for them. The idea of eating at a 50's style home is cute but kids get enough of being told to eat their veggie as it is!:goodvibes

I'd vote for 50s Prime Time. Atmosphere and food are both good! Can't say the same for Sci-Fi.

We abolutely love 50PT ...a must do on our list.
We eveb got in one night for dinner (with a little bit of a wait) without an ADR during Easter weeks. My DH is a very good negotiator (part of his real job).
Amazing :goodvibes

We love to eat:
Chicken Noodle Soup

Char-grilled Butcher Tender Steak - with red wine sauce, sauteed mushrooms, cheddar scalloped potatoes, and green beans

Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken - served with mashed potatoes, chicken gravy and southern greens $15.99 - but, we swap out the chicken gravy and southern greens and add in the green beans. We just tell our 'Uncle' or 'Mom' we do not want to waste any food. We get praised for asking.

Mom's Old Fashioned Pot Roast - Slow cooked 'til fork tender, served with mashed potatoes, carrots, celery and onions

Our DD orders the KIDS Grilled Chicken Strips - with macaroni topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella, served with veggies and fruit salad

The No Sugar Added Cheesecake - topped with fresh whipped cream and strawberry sauce is a wonderful way to end our meal.

We have eaten at 50's Prime Time so we are trying Sci. Fi this September. Prime Time food was really good, as was the decor. I didn't like our server and he was a little inappropriate. I don't really like the schtick of the waiters at all, but still enjoyed the food.

I liked the food at 50's PTC better; it's good comfort food. The atmosphere at Sci-Fi is better but it was very difficult to eat with small children at one of the car tables. You don't face each other and sit in front and back car seats. My kids also didn't understand/fully grasp the concept of the film clips.
