We're thinking about driving to Disney for the first time. Our plan is to drive straight through, stay at a DTD hotel for the night, go over to DTD, and arrive at BC very early the next morning.

It looks like we could get some decent prices at Lake Buena Vista Palace and Spa, Royal Plaza and Regal Sun.

Any recommendations? We're looking for something clean, SAFE and SECURE (as our bags will be locked in the car) and with a decent pool and arcade for the kids.

Please give me any experiences you've had with these hotels -or any recommendations for other DTD or near Disney resorts.

THanks

as our bags will be locked in the car
I know it's a hassle, but if it were me, I'd take the bags up to my room for the night. Why tempt fate?

you could also just book a room for 1 night at POFQ. That resort is in the DTD area...:confused3

We usually do exactly what you are planning. Don't want to pay WDW resort prices when you just want to sleep from the long drive and then do a little shopping at DTD.

Out of those three, we've only stayed at Royal. We were there after the rehab and thought it was very nice. The beds were awesome. The only thing we didn't like was that the sink, toilet, shower were all IN the bathroom, kwim? Getting ready in the morning took a little bit of planning since there were no sinks outside the bathroom.

But that wouldn't keep me from staying there for one night. I can do it for one night, I wouldn't have been able to do a week like that.

I would think you could get some good deals. Have you checked Mousesavers.com. Sometimes they have discounts on DTD hotels.

Good luck.

Our BC CL deluxe room is $590 a night plus tax.

I really don't want to spend that much since we won't be arriving until around 5:00 pm.

I can get a Disney view room at Buena Vista Palace and Spa for about $138 including tax and resort fee.

Bringing in the bags is an option, but since we are staying for two weeks it is a lot of luggage.

Has anyone stayed in these resorts that could give me their review?

Thanks.

Just checked mousesavers.com Royal Plaza was $97 plus tax for end of June. ( I just put in June 27th. Didn't know your dates exactly)
