So Df and I decided to have an escape wedding instead of a home wedding! :yay: If we were having a home wedding we were going to have it in October 2010. We wanted to give ourselves enough time to save and get everything booked. Now that we don't have to do all that and the escape wedding will be cheaper we are contemplating pushing the wedding up to January or February of 2010.

DF and I have always gone to disney i the fall so we know the weather and crowds pretty well. But does anyone have any experience going to Disney in January or february?:confused3 Which would you do.... fall or winter 2010? Just want to get some opinions.

TIA brides!:thumbsup2

Sorry I can not answer the crowds question im sure some one will be along soon to

but wanted to sat congrats on the escape decsion

thanks leanne!

I'm so glad i made the decision. I'm getting alot of backlash from it from family but that just goes to show that this IS the right decision. :thumbsup2I just dont want to deal with all the drama.:sad2:

Congrats on the Escape Wedding Katie!! :cool1:

I would say January is my preference, but early February isn't bad either. It's just the mid-late part of the month that I don't like as alot of kids start going on winter break. Feb's a bit warmer, but Jan isn't bad either. I would do late Jan/early Feb. Geez, I've of no help am I? LOL!:lmao:

Congrats!! I've gone to WDW a few times in mid-January and the crowds are very light. The weather varies from warm enough to swim to chilly enough for a sweatshirt (esp. at night). Have fun planning!:goodvibes

Congratulations on your decision! I am so excited for you. I think that Jan/Feb is fabulous weather for FL - it rarely rains, and the crowds are really light that time of year. Plus the hotels and such are discounted b/c it is considered out of season - so you may be able to save more money that way.

Jan (except MLK weekend), early Feb, and Oct (except around Columbus Day) are all good times to be at Disney crowd-wise. Of the 3 I'd pick Oct just because I love the fall decor and MNSSHP. Weather-wise you won't have to worry about it being too hot and humid any of those months. All 3 months the days are sometimes chilly, sometimes beautiful. Would 1 of those months be easier for the few guests you are having to travel? Also, in Jan/Feb is when a lot of the sports groups (dance, cheerleading, etc) are at Disney. While it doesn't necessarily have a huge impact on the crowds it might affect your guests' enjoyment if they are staying at the resorts those groups are staying at. Large groups of kids can be noisy, can easily make something like a pool seem crowded if a lot of them are together there, and can fill up an entire bus or create a long line in a food court and make your wait time longer.

We are doing a wedding week of stuff starting the end of jan going into the beginning of feb! Sometimes the weather is really really great and other times its FREEZING. It is really volatile. So just plan to have warm weather clothes and a heavy coat in your suitcase.

The weather is always better in the fall. I am not sure what hotel prices look like I know most of the winter is value season.

If you want lots of outdoor events then I would go with the Fall if you are planning for the WP and indoor stuff then the winter could be great.

We picked winter b/c we are doing a cruise with all of our guests and so we wanted to do it when it was freezing up north - to give everyone a break from the cold. If you are coming from a cold climate then the winter weather at disney might be really mild to you.

Our wedding and honeymoon ran from late Jan. (after MLK and the cheer/dance/etc. competitions) through early February (before President's Day). It was perfect! Low crowds, balmy Spring-like weather, and cheap rates at the hotels.

We went back at that time for our anniversary this year and had more of the same - except the weather: there was a crazy cold snap! But I still think it's a fab time to go.

Congrats on the Escape wedding! I would definitely say do it before President's Week. All the New Yorkers have off and flock down there!

I was there at the same time as Carrie and loved it so I think February is a great time. :thumbsup2

We just went the first two weeks of January this year (the last four days were at the ocean though!), and it was lovely. Some cold on our way out, but lots of nice days. But I would buy a wrap or something to go with that dress- it can be a chilly day (I'd say it realistically will be in the 60s to 70s, but could be 50s-80s!).. I loved being there right after new years- the crowds were low, but decorations were all up and it was really fun. The only thing is if you want good castle pictures, I do know the crane was up on our last day there to take down the lights (I believe that was around the 13th or so?)- I believe someone told me that it was up another week or so after that, but then it was gone.

I'm making my first fall trip (late september)this year, I've only been to florida in winter/spring, so I don't have much to compare it to.

Congratulations on your decision and wedding and the best to you both!
