Which would you choose?

We're going on Christmas week 2007. We arrive on 12/29 and are staying until 1/6. We have two options (there are 4 of us---- me, DH, DS#1 (6yo) and DS#2(3yo)).

A---We could do 1st 2nights at Pop Century and then move to a one bedroom at SSR for next 6 nights. We'd have enough Visa Reward points to pay for our stay at Pop Century. I'm editing this, because I thought we'd only have enough points for 5 nights in the one bedroom and 3 at pop, but we can do 6 of them in the one bedroom, and just have to go to pop for 2 nights.
or

B---We could do the entire 8 nights in a studio at SSR. This would actually require less points than choice A.

Which would you choose? I know DH isn't going to be wild about splitting a stay, but I can talk him into just about anything. We won't have a car which would make the transfer a little more difficult. I wish we could do the entire trip in a one bedroom, but the first three nights will take up alot of points because it's premiere season and a weekend, and we are going in January 2006 for 9 days in a 2 bedroom with my parents-- so that trip is eating alot of points.

Yeah, I think we could do OKW, but that's not our home, and I don't know how hard that would be to book at the 7 month window for an arrival during Christmas week. So, I'll try to switch there at 7 months, but I really don't want to plan on that. Does that make sense? I'm figuring that this is a trip we're going to have to do at our home resort.

Good plan, secure the home resort and try to switch at 7 months.

My choice would be none of the above. I'd go with 5 nights in a one bedroom. Any amount of nights in Pop or in a studio with 4 people sounds less than magical.

Have a great trip. :thumbsup2

We don't like switching either.....but a one bedroom is sooooo much nicer than a studio (read typical hotel room) that we'd go with your plan to stay in a one bedroom as long as the points will allow.

I'd vote for 2 at POP and balance in 1BR at SSR. Yes you have to move but I am in the camp that a 1BR makes a very big difference in our vacationing comfort.

Sounds like my DW. What...do you women learn in this school somewhere? :teeth:

Actually, it doesn't matter if you don't have a car. Disney resort bell services will transport your belongings from one resort to another resort on property with no problem. Just ask at the bell services desk at the POP. If your room at SSR isn't ready, they'll just store your things in bell services there and deliver them to your room when your room is ready. Very easy....no car required! :)

definately the 1 bedroom and Pop. It is worth changing rooms for instead of a studio the whole time.

Definitely POP and l bedroom. You will really like having the washer and dryer and the extra space for your family even if it is only for 5 nites. We moved from OKW to BCV for one night and it was very easy. Bell Services moved all of our stuff and we went to a park for the day. We then took the bus home to BCV and checked in and Bell Services brought up our luggage and food.

ditto to this. Do POP first so it won't be a let down when you make the switch. It be be like having a upgrade!

I'd vote for the studio to avoid the move. With small children there should be plenty of room (my parents and I stayed in an SSR studio and were quite comfortable with three adults).

Thanks everyone!!! We are going to switch resorts to have the one bedroom. But, we're also switching our trip to the following May. We checked out the point chart, and we'll still have enough for a one bedroom for 6 nights, but since the price of the hotel is a little less (we were staying in the hotel on Christmas week), and we are putting off the trip for 5 months, we're going to do the two nights at the end of the trip at one of the deluxes that we havent' stayed at (which is pretty much all of them except for Wilderness Lodge). I think that will make the switch a little easier. Thanks again!!! After talking about it, we decided to switch to May because if we make the trips every year and a half rather than every year, we'd have more points to work with. At least until I'm out of nursing school and then we can add on to our points. Thanks!!!
