Which would you choose w/a $68 diff--BWPPI, Desert Inn, or Tropicana?

I need help deciding. We are a family of 5, staying for 2 nights. Dh wants one of the hotels across the street near the crosswalk. I can get an oversized room at Tropicana with a roll-away at $257 total (the prices include 2 nights, taxes & fees & are from the hotels own websites), $290 Desert Inn suite room (2 Qs & sofa bed), $325 BWPPI mini-suite. Does one of these stand out as "better" to you? We want a fairly comfy bed with clean rooms. Thanks!! :flower3:

When are you going? $290 @ Desert Inn, is that total charge or per night? I usually take Desert Inn because of the indoor pool if we go in colder weather.

If the mini suite includes a separate bedroom then definitely BWPPI, all are very close and all have their fans here....

I like the Tropicana and I would stay there again hands down. The service is fantasic!

I think at those prices I'd go with the Tropicana. Those are pretty pricey rates!

It's for 2 nights, including taxes and fees...Mar 1 & 2. Sunday night is $20-30 more than Monday. I already booked Tropicana awhile back at $91.xx a night but found out that a roll-away won't fit in a standard room so it will be $23 more a night for a larger room with roll-away. Decided to look around and see what a suite/mini-suite would cost. The one at BWPPI is a mini-suite with the half wall, not a separate room.

Did you ask the Desert in for the family suite that is actually just two adjoining rooms? We booked them over Thanksgiving and it was $230 a night for both rooms. We went with them because they were the only hotel that could garauntee adjoining rooms. If that is the best you can get for Desert Inn and you're not interested in the indoor pool, I would go with the Tropicana as it is the cheapest. All three are similarly close. Desert Inn is literally 15 steps further than Tropicana. I would also call direct instead of the website

Well, your DH wants to stay right at the crosswalk, and I get that, but if you could talk him into walking one block up to HoJo, the entertainment book rate is available March 1 and 2. You could get a two queen bed room (probably with room for a rollaway) for $59 a night, and a MUCH nicer pool area for the kids.

Thanks! I will have to try calling directly tomorrow. The rates online are $139 Sun and $109 Mon for a Parlor A Suite. With the 15% tax & $4 resort fees it ends up being $289.80 total for the 2 days.

Thanks! How many minutes longer of a walk would you say it is? I think his main hang-up is dealing with tired, cranky kids passing the closer hotels and since there's no cont. bkfst we'd have to spend a little on that. I could probably go either way.

It's about a 10 min. walk tops, that's how long it takes my family of 4 to get from the HoJo (we start counting when we leave our room, but not the elevator time) to the security tables. If you walk down the "other" side of Harbor you won't really be "passing" the other hotels, they won't be as visible. Does that make sense? You just walk to the end of Manchester, cross there and then cross again immediately after and walk down the opposite side of Harbor, you then get to the bus stop and cut thru right there cutting thru the taxi parking area. And the cont. breakfasts you get at these hotels are NOT worth the extra money IMO. I'd rather stop at a Costco and grab a big thing of muffins or take fruit, my own cereal and milk etc for breakfasts. The Tropicana bfast isn't much, just little fruits, icky pastries, maybe donuts and maybe bagels.

Our family prefers the HoJo, the beds are better, the staff is great and the walk is not that bad.

Of your choices, I'd probably go with Tropicana. That mini suite at BWPPI is nice, but its really not a suite. Its an oversized room with a sofa bed. I love those, but the pool area at Tropicana is much nicer. Tropicana also allows you to take items from their free breakfast to eat in the room, BWPPI doesn't.

The difference in walk between Tropicana vs. Hojo is probably around 5-8 minutes. Hojo also doesn't have free breakfast. But its a very nice place with a much nicer pool area (although the Tropicana has a nice pool area with a huge hot tub that I really like but no pirate splash area and no grounds).

I like the BWPPI and I like those mini suites but it sounds like the room at Tropicana is probably about the same size and its cheaper. And to me, Tropicana is a tad nicer, less of a parking lot feel and we had top notch servicd there when we stayed.

But do check on the Hojo. But its farther and if your husband is adamant, he may be peeved when you walk by Tropicana and BWPPI on your way to the hojo!

Hi there!
We stayed at Desert Inn and Suites in November, and we were pleased with it. The indoor pool was nice, as we could walk back to the hotel for an afternoon swim break. Our kids loved it!
We had a parlor A suite, so we could put the girls to bed at a decent time, close the door, and watch a bit of TV before we went to sleep. The girls also had a TV in their little room, so they could watch cartoons while we got ready in the morning.
The continental breakfast was okay. But it was free! We would bring cereal, juice and danishes back to the room to eat. It saved us time in the morning, so we could get to the park early.
It was so close to walk to the parks. We have a 4 year old and a 7 year old, and it was no problem.

Hope this info helps!
Have a great trip!

Personally, I'd pick the Tropicana.

Thanks Mary Jo and everyone! Those are some great looking pictures. We decided to go ahead with the Tropicana, and booked a larger room with a roll-away. I can't wait to get there. :cool1:

Wow, that's great. Same here, I'll like the Tropicana. :thumbsup2 We want to stay there again, it's really great.

Have a nice day. :)
