DH and I have the choice of buying a jacuzzi for our house or going on a cruise. We have 1 child, a daughter who is 1.

Obviously, the first argument is that the jacuzzi is something you keep, something you can enjoy year round, and an investment into the equity of our home. However, it also might/ can be a lot of upkeep and additional expenses, and I worry we'd never use it or would run into problems.

The second argument is that the cruise, while only a week-long trip, would be something to do before trying for baby #2, which we plan to do this summer-- sort of my last hurrah with just DD and DH before I get pregnant again. When baby #2 comes, we realize the whole dynamic of our lives will change yet again and we want to do one last thing with DD before that happens. DD has an excellent disposition, travels super well, etc. BUT, that said, it's money that's totally gone when the trip ends.

So we're sort of stuck. Get something we can enjoy forever, or do something during a time in our lives we can't get back. WWYD?

I vote for the cruise. I have a Jacuzzi & never use it.

We used to have a hot tub in our last house and rarely used it. Our neighbors got one a few years ago (their backyard faces our backyard) and I NEVER see them in it--maybe twice in the last several years?

I totally vote for the cruise!:thumbsup2

I would be paranoid about having a covered swimming pool (aka a jacuzzi) and a young child in the house. Not so much at 1, but at 6, when they're old enough to open it and have an accident. I'll probably get flamed because lots of people do this, but my personal choice would be to avoid it rather than worry. So I'd go on the cruise.

I was going to say jacuzzi when I saw the thread title but I'm the type that would be nervous with a hot tub/pool/jacuzzi in the home and young children. Just one of those things I was never comfortable with for some reason.

Cruise, for sure.

Eh, don't NOT get one because of the kid. My friend has a hot tub and it has a LOCKING cover. They DO make those.

With that said, I'd still pick the cruise, although a cruise with a baby doesn't sound all that appealing.

I vote for cruise. Everyone I know that has/had a jacuzzi never really used it once the novelty wore off.

Disney cruise all the way:woohoo:!!

Sure, when it's over, it's over. But the memories you bring home will last a lifetime:thumbsup2!

A jacuzzi sounds good right now but maybe it's because I'm cold. ;)

Would you use it? I've known people that use them a lot and others that never do.

I say get the jacuzzi and take a smaller vacation for a last hurrah.

We brought our 3 boys as teenagers on the Disney Magic in 2006. Each one of us have all agreed, it was the BEST family trip we have ever taken, and we do DW every year, for the last 12 years. Don't think of it as money you'll never see again, think of it as making the best memories you will EVER have. I'd give anything to be able to go again!! However, I have to agree with the poster that mentioned having the baby, it would put a huge cramp in your freedom, but do what makes you comfortable and if that is fun for you, go for it!

OK, you are on a DISNEY forum, you know what type of answers you are going to get here . You need to find a jacuzzi forum to see that side of the picture!:lmao:

Ok, I would vote for a trip anywhere, cuz we still have a hot tub and still don't use it, lol!

Jacuzzi.

Who wants to go on a cruise with a baby?

Jacuzzi. We have one, and every time we go in it we're like, "ahhh..." It is SO relaxing. I live in Buffalo and we keep it going year-round. There's nothing like looking up at the stars, watching the snow fall, while sitting in the hot bubbly water. My husband and I have the best talks while we're in there.

You and your hubby can hang out in there when your little ones go to bed. It's like vacationing in your own house!

While I love a good soak in the jacuzzi--my in-laws had one and their chemicals bothered my sinuses and allergies differently than a permanent jacuzzi like what they have at Disney.

So on that alone, I say the cruise.

But other thoughts--I'm just not into the cost of the jacuzzi that isn't a permanent part of the landscape. It is a very very expensive toy.

I could think of other things to do with that money that would be none of the above.

Right now on my list are...new hardwood floors...new kitchen countertop...new dishwasher...new deck...new shocks and struts for the car....a trip back to Florida to visit family and friends..pay off a credit card....

(and we cruised with a baby...twice....we enjoyed ourselves.)

Jacuzzi.

Who wants to go on a cruise with a baby?

One of the main reasons we are considering going on a Disney cruise is that our dear friends just returned with their same-aged DD and had the time of their lives. I guess I just didn't think of it that way.

Our DD has been to Aruba, NYC, Disney World, Disneyland, and Chicago since her birth so I guess I'm just used to taking her everywhere.
