Which would you choose? 50s or Sci Fi?

I'm torn on which of these restaurants to choose for our upcoming trip. Some pertinent info:

-3 adults, 3 kids (ages 1.5, 3 and 7).
-Mostly non-picky eaters, but the 7 yo is challenging sometimes.
-Will be our big meal of the day
- Milkshakes are a huge plus for the kids.
- Sci Fi will be oop to save a TS credit for a Chef Mickey's breakfast. If we do 50s, I'll see how the bill stacks up and may use a credit and pay for CM oop. Either way is fine.

So . . . . any suggestions???

Oh, and I've been to Sci Fi, but no one else has been to either. And the 3 year old recently freaked out (not in a good way) over seeing part of Star Wars.

I still say Sci-Fi, better food, better (consistent) atmosphere... but *JMO*

If you are REALLY worried about your 3 yo, go for Prime Time. As you probably know, Sci-Fi can be pretty dark and a little on the louder side. But my normally skiddish DS4 did ok, he wasn't paying much attention to the movies, just thought the cars were too cool.

We ate at sci-fi last summer and my 3yo loved it so much that was the first place he requested this summer. :goodvibes

Milkshakes at 50's are excellent (we have two kids about the same ages) but food overall is better at Sci Fi. Our kids loved the overall experience at 50's better (mainly because our waitress Aunt Memory was fantastic). Either way, both are lots of fun.

I choose 50's..we didn't like sci fi..now it's been 2 years since we went there but it was crowded in the car with 4 adults and 1 toddler..thought the food was bland. But this year we went to prime time for the first time and the food tasted great. Service was good and fun. Huge portions and the milkshakes not only HUGE but tasty. Think of the silver cup they make the shake in and our waitress brought us a cup that size filled with the shake and brought the silver cup 3/4 way full...it's a bigger cup than say, a friendly's or denny's.

My Mom asked for a milkshake refill at 50's last year and they brought her this massive pitcher filled with peanut/butter milkshake. Priceless look on her face.

I would pick 50's and I have never eaten there! We strongly disliked Sci-Fi. I thought the food was b-l-e-c-h. The atmosphere was cool but that's about it. I hate to write that because I love Disney, I love to eat and I am not a critical person but really I would rather go to McDonald's than eat there again.

50's for sure! :thumbsup2

I 100% agree with this!

If it's going to be the main meal of the day I would recommend 50's PTD over Sci-Fi. They are both good (not great). However, I think the atmospher is more fun at 50's and I also prefer the menu as well.

We went to SciFi when my kids were 7 and 4. My 7yo still talks about the nightmares she had from the movies they were showing. I would stick with 50s PTC just to be safe.

My personal vote would be 50's - my folks and I only ate at the SciFi once and I don't recall that we enjoyed it.

I think the main thing to keep in mind is that at the 50's diner you will have interaction with your server that will involve good natured fun. I don't think you interact with the staff at SciFi outside of ordering your meal.

Have fun!

I would go with 50's. The food is great, the atmosphere is awesome, and it is a lot of fun!!!

Considering there are 3 adults and 3 children, I say 50s Prime Time, simply because it is fun and the meals are more like "home" cooking and you get plenty to eat. I like Sci-Fi but I think you will find more meals that appeal to your children.

50's. DD and I did both Sci Fi and 50's in Nov. SciFi wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great. DD wasn't a fan of all the campy horror flick clips either. 50's food was better, especially as far as the kids meal went.

Another vote for 50's, I think the food is better and personally I like being able to sit at a table and see my kids than sitting in a car and looking at the back of their heads. Just my preference, either way I'm sure you'll have a great time, it's Disney afterall!popcorn::

Thanks so much! I think we will go with 50s- sounds like a lot of fun. We'll do Sci Fi when the kids are a bit older.

I love 50's!! Their fried chicken is wonderful! And the smores for dessert.. mmmmm!

I've never been to Sci Fi. I think it sounds like it would be a cool experience, but there's nothing on their menu that I would like, even in the dessert section! So I've skipped that restaurant thus far.
