Hi, I think I may need to cancel at least one of my ADR's and I can't decide which. We will be there 6 days and are on the DDP. I am willing to pay for 1 maybe 2 meals OP. MY DD4 doesn't like rides so for us character meals are a big part of our trip. She is really into princesses so those meals are a priority. Also we have 2 teens in our party and I wanted a couple of meals that would appeal to them. One of them isn't a big fan of the characters but is good natured and will go along for the ride. Would like to hear some thoughts. :) TX

Boma (D) on arrival day
CRT (B)- celebrating a bday here
H&V (L)
La Hacienda (D) booked at 7:45 for possible illuminations viewing
1900 Park and Fare (B)
Chef Mickey's (D)
Chefs de France (D)
Akershus (B) before we leave

If it was up to me, I would cancel Chef Mickey's. Not missing much there compared to your other choices.

Personally I would cancel 1900 PF. The food was atrocious on each of our visits and to be honest although the dinner characters were amazing the breakfast characters were nothing special at all.

Would definitely keep Boma, CRT and Akershus. :)

I would cancel one of the character meals based on which characters your kids most want to see. I would just ask them and go from there.
Chef Mickey's- the fab 5
H&V - Sopia, Jake, and Doc
1900 Park Fare - Mary Poppins, Mad Hatter, tigger, and Pooh

Personally I would cancel H&V, it's my least favorite of those 3.

Hollywood and Vine is horrible... definitely drop that one.

Chef Mickey's for dinner has an awful reputation. I've done it for breakfast a couple times and loved it, but I would never do dinner there.

I'd cancel 1900 park fare. I just went through our options today and DD also agreed to cancel that one. We've been for the last 2 years and now its being dropped to try something new

I agree that the food at H&V isn't very good but my daughter and niece love both Doc and Sophia. I believe it's the only place to meet them. So I'm going into this one hoping to at least just have a decent salad while the little girls enjoy the characters.

I think I'm leaning towards canceling 1900 or Chef Mickey's. We did 1900 for dinner a couple of years ago and enjoyed the character interaction very much. Wanted to try for breakfast but that might be easier to let go then some of the others. TX

Between CM and 1900 is hard. We had better food and GREAT characters at 1900, but CM is really more fun for teens sooooooo. If you want to keep H&V, maybe let the teens do a meal at Sci-Fi or 50's prime time. Most places they can tolerate the characters for good food, but honestly we did not enjoy the food at all here. CMs however were fantastic! I would keep all your non character meals for your teens so they will feel they get some choices too.

TX, I will look into getting the older girls an ADR for Sci-Fi while the adults take the little girls to H&V. However, Still not sure which to cancel:confused3
Will have to decide in the next couple of days. Don't want to hold on to an ADR someone else could use.

I was super disappointed in H&V, but my kids liked it. The food was bad. The worst table service of our whole trip....

Remember that CRT is two credits so you are really over by 3 meals.

IF IT WERE ME:

You couldn't pay me to go back to Chef Mickey's. I don't agree the teens would like it, to me it was like a preschool out of control with bad food you have to serve yourself. None of those characters are hard to meet in the parks. Saves 1 meal credit.

I totally agree with not taking teens to H&V, they are way to old for that one, send them to Sci-Fi they will totally love it. You sit in cars at drive-in, started going when my kids were teens and it's a favorite place for them. I would let them pay OOP, it's not that expensive and why use up the credit?

1900 while the food may be just breakfast food, the characters are a hoot! It would depend on how many credits I had for that one. Not sure the time of your breakfast but are you planning to go to MK after? ....... if you are why not let the teens go to the MK ahead of you and start some rides and save the credits there. Let them grab something at MK like a waffle or ice cream is good for breakfast ;)

So your 6 credits x 4 adults = 24
You will use:
Boma (D) 4
CRT (B) 8
H&V (L) 2
La Hacienda (D) 4
1900 Park and Fare (B) 2
Chef Mickey's (D) 0 (cancel)
Chefs de France (D) 4
Akershus (B) 4

That leaves you only paying OOP for one meal of 4 adults - check menus for less expensive one or cancel another if you want no further OOP. And you will have to pay for 2 meals for the child's meal, that would be the non-buffets.

PS I would try for BOG for lunch for a QSDP credit, well worth it and all of you will enjoy it.

Based on what you said I would cancel Chef Mickey's. IMO 1900 PF has better food, better atmosphere and a more unique character interaction.

H&V - Unless your kids looooooove Disney Junior. Even then I'd probably skip. Another option is to let your teens (if they are old enough) do a QS somewhere else and just take the little one. I highly doubt the teens will enjoy H&V.

Also, I grew up in Texas and I think the only people who love the food at La Hacienda come from places without decent Mexican food. It's not bad, but there are better places to spend a TS credit.

I would cancel either Hollywood & Vine or 1900 Park... I dont really like the food at either place.

Many years ago we did the CRT breakfast and it was NOT worth the 2 credits...I'd drop that one, sorry. Also have not heard good things about H&V, so might drop that too. Boma is the best buffet at WDW, IMO. And Chefs De France is pretty good...def worth the 1 credit (good bang for your buck). We enjoyed Chef Mickeys but went many years ago. Heard good things about La Hacienda and 1900 PF. Heard mixed things about Akershus but usually good things about the breakfast...we are doing dinner there in Aug and I am a tad nervous about it.

I wouldn't do Park Fare breakfast and I would choose between CRT and Akershus as they have the same characters.

Just to confuse you even more :p, there's no way I'd drop CRT. Even the older girls will love eating in the castle. When my niece went to WDW at 17, she said eating in the castle was the only thing she didn't get to do that she wished she could have.

To me, & this is just MHO (no offense intended), but it looks like your ADRs are too heavily focused on the little kids without much thought for what the older ones will enjoy. So, I'll offer suggestions for them.

Mad Hatter at 1900 PF breakfast is usually hilarious. The older girls will probably love him. Actually, the characters there are good for all ages. That said, this isn't a must, if you have other meals the older kids will enjoy. It's just a great choice for kids who have about outgrown the characters.

I agree that Sci-fi will be more fun for the older girls. H&V is for the pre-school demographic.

Teens usually like the heavily themed restaurants like RFC & T-Rex. Even though we haven't eaten there, they may also enjoy Coral Reef.

Beaches & Cream would be a cheap OOP meal the teens would love. Order a couple appetizers or meals to share, then order the kitchen sink for the group. Alternatively, let them choose their own sundaes. Most kids that age think the kitchen sink is the greatest thing ever though.

Chef Mickey is an obvious choice for cancellation. Everyone should try it once, but your group will probably enjoy the other character more. As has been mentioned, it's easy to meet those characters in the parks.

I can understand why you don't want to cancel the meals the 4 yr. old will enjoy. Maybe, you could consider changing the non-character meals to meals for the teenagers. For example, changing Boma to RFC or T-Rex in DTD. Maybe, let the older kids choose the Epcot restaurants. Just a thought. :)

I agree that CRT is great for kids. It's where I ate on my 17th birthday. However, I know you're into your 180 day window but I would try to get a lunch or dinner there. I enjoyed the dinner more than the breakfast, and I feel you get more for your credits at dinner, but that's just me.

I really like Park Fare but it's always been one of my favorites. The dinner isn't as good as the breakfast, but if you did cancel CRT, then you could try to get dinner there. The younger girls still get to see Cinderella and the Tremaines are hilarious and the teens will love it. But Mary and Mad Hatter are great at breakfast too.

Agree with the others about having the teens do another lunch while you are at H&V. Let them decide between SciFi, 50s, and Mama Melrose, that way their input and freedom is considered.
:offtopic: I personally would still go with the younger ones to H&V but I nanny children who love Doc and Sophia so I was forced to become a fan. We took our dog to the vet and I sang "time for your checkup" on the way there, thought my BF was going to pull over and make me walk. (I'm 21)

But Boma is great and the last time I ate Akershus was early 2000s for breakfast and I wasn't the biggest fan (I was a picky eater as a child) but the interaction with the princesses was some of the best I've had, better than CRT.
