Want to spend a couple of nights at Universal on our next holiday. Have previously stayed at Portofino which we thought was lovely, if a bit more suited to a couple than a family...........so we want to try one of the other two! We have a 5yr old boy who loves to swim and we would like to try either Royal Pacific or Hard Rock..............which would you choose and why? Thinking about Club level, so if you've stayed at either would like to hear your experiences!

Have been to RPR twice and HRH none, but a 5 yr. old would have to find the ship in the pool a great place to play! It looks like the front part of a tugboat kind of thing. There are big metal water guns to shoot, water fountain/sprays throughout it, including the smokestack on top.. Many an adult has been seen having water fights with their kids there! The RPR club level has lots of breakfast items, especially the hot iced cinnamon buns. There are lots of different items....try doing the "search" on the bottom of the Un. Resorts & hotels page--not this page,(scroll all the way down, it's on the right side) .....there have been a lot of descriptions in various posts. I really appreciated having bottled water to take to the parks with us.....club always has sodas and water available. ....and coffee, tea all day.

i would say the RP would better suit a 5yo. the HRH is best for teens and adults. and in the concierge lounge of the club is very adult! this place is a party place with lots of drinking!! there are kids there. i would just depend on what the child is used to... if rock stars wont freak him out ( some of them are scary looking! ) then go for that. IMO, the RP is more of a family type enviroment.

We've stayed at both and my girls (8,5,2) love the pool slide so they like HR better. Both are great though!
