So we leave in 8 days for the world. We have decided finally do some of those things we have always just skipped over. One of those things are the films in world showcase. Now I know there is no way we will do all three, so which is the best?
TIA, Melissa

In France, you're actually seated in a theater as opposed to the others which are shown in a Circle Vision theater with lean rails. Now this isn't to say that the France movie is a better experience because you get to sit down, but it is a beautiful theater, and the film is excellent with a powerful musical score.

The Canada movie has been updated in recent years, and it now features Martin Short. I highly recommend it.

I love the China movie too, so I guess I'm not helping much since I really can't pick one over the other two.

I guess if pressed to choose, I'd say France and Canada are the best two of the three.

There are actually 5 movies in World Showcase; Norway (after the boat ride), China, United States, France and Canada.

China and Canada are circlevision 360 movies where you stand in a circular room and the movie is presented on screens all around you. Both are good - China for showing us a country that most know nothing about and Canada for showing us its more than just a place where it snows continuously (thanks Martin Short).

The Norway movie is a short one that most people just walk right through. I like it, but don't watch it every time I ride Norway.

The show in US is actually much more than a movie and should not be missed.

I like the idea of being able to sit down. Thanks!

We LOVE The American Adventure. Norway...we got caught in there the first time we did Malestrom, lets just say it wasn't a favorite. :rolleyes1

Just realized that I didn't comment on the movie in France. We find it a nice relaxing movie that lets us sit and enjoy some AC while viewing wonderful images of France. We don't do this every trip either.

I vote for France. I love the music and you get to sit down in air conditioning. The sitting part is great. And while I love the movies in Canada and China, I don't have 360 vision, so I feel like I have to keep moving my head around. France I can keep my head still for the most part. Gives my neck a rest.

Agree, France is relaxing!

Also like China and Canada.

Why not do them all? I have done all except for Norway.

I regularly see the movies in France, Canada, and Norway. (Yes, I stay for the movie in Norway after riding Maelstrom!) I have rarely seen the movie in China, but maybe I'll give it a try next month. I don't consider the American Adventure to be just a movie, but I enjoy seeing that, too.

Why not try all three? Maybe you have toddlers who can't sit still that long. That might make sense.

The France movie is one of the most relaxing, peaceful things in all of WDW. It is one of my favorite attractions, actually. Some people nap during it. But hey, if you need a nap, this is a great place for one. Sit in the back half of the theater. It's only 180 degrees, but you still won't have to turn your head as much in the back.

For the 360 degree movies (Canada/China), I recommend standing or sitting on the floor towards the very back. Look for the podium in front and stand on the opposite side of the room. You may not see the very back screens, but you don't really need to. And that will prevent you from having to turn your head so much.

The Canada movie is great, and I really like the Martin Short update and even the new version of the song.

The China movie is third on my list, but I still do it every few trips.

They're all great in my opinion. Personally, China is probably my favorite(excluding US -don't consider that a "movie"). As well, we've been on Norway too many times to count and never skipped the film -yes, I know I'm a horrible parent. I love the way it's filmed and don't understand why people cut right through it and leave -very upsetting.

I love "Impressions de France". Consider this: It is the ONLY attraction in all of Epcot that has remained unchanged since the day the park opened in 1982. Yes, the film is a little grainy now, and parts are a little dated, but the sweeping visuals and the brilliant classical music score are timeless and enthralling. Plus, I personally love the fact that after soaring over castles and palaces and going through Versailles and Notre Dame and up the Eiffel Tower, everyone in the theatre always oohs and ahhs at the same scene... the pastry shop window. Makes me smile every time.

By the way, no matter which show you pick (between Canada, France and China), and unless the park is exceptionally busy, my advice is don't get suckered into "waiting" for the next show. Particularly in France and Canada where there is essentially no pre-show and a fairly claustrophobic waiting area. In China, there's a museum off the theatre lobby (which you can also see seperately later) as well as some limited seating in the lobby area. But, my advice is to ask how long until the next show, and come back 5 minutes prior. No matter how big the crowds are outside, the theatres are HUGE, and I've never seen them completely full (except on the very busiest and hottest of days).

I visited Oslo on a cruise in 2005, and hope to cruise to Norway in the future, so this is a must-see film for me. In fact, I'd rather see the movie and skip the ride! :rotfl:

I agree and find France to be at the top! I never miss this film. :thumbsup2

We saw the movie in France this year for the first time, and really enjoyed it. It was extra-special because it had soft seats, A/C, and the heat index outside was 106! :sunny: Even without those factors, it really was a lovely movie!

China has the best movie, but you can sit down in France. IMO, they tie.

Canada is okay and certainly much better than it once was. Funny parts, too.

Norway has a movie, but I heard that anyone who sits through it actually dies of boredom. You might want to avoid that.

America has a movie, too. As it tends to focus on the worst period in all of American history instead of the best things about the country (like the other movies), I generally skip it. But it is very popular - many people like it.

I'm not sure I'm understanding why people are mentioning a film in The American Adventure pavilion. Are you referring to the pre show of the American Adventure show? If so, it is not comparable to the films in China, France and Canada, because it's followed by one of the most powerful and moving audio anamatronic show on property.

I think the movie in Norway is beautiful, and the line for the ride is longer than the movie! I suggest you see it for yourself rather than rely on comments from others about dying of boredom.

If you don’t mind standing in a CircleVision360™ theater (and many do), then I think that the updated Canada movie is the best in terms of photography, humor and overall entertainment value. (And I love the theme song. I end up humming it the whole rest of the day.) Impressions de France is also beautifully filmed, but it is a bit dated. I suppose that doesn’t matter much if you are watching chateaus built in the 1600’s. And the best part of that movie is that when you exit, you can get a pastry!! Can’t remember the last time I passed up that opportunity after exiting.
