Hello. We are planning our 6th trip to WDW, but havent been back since 2013. We've been previously pre - Christmas & love this time. Our possible dates, with 10 park days, are -

1. November 29 - December 10, 2021

OR

2. December 06 - December 17, 2021

For those that travel to WDW more frequently than us, which dates would you choose for lesser crowds? Any other thoughts on the pros / cons for each set of dates.

Thank you for your advice.

They are both fairly quiet times. The first option you may feel some spillover from the Thanksgiving holiday at the beginning of your trip and the second option you may see some early Christmas crowds at the end of your trip. But nothing that I would call 'crowded.'

I would pick whatever timeframe works best for you because crowds are essentially the same for both timeframes.

Thank you, twocat. We are planning 5 weeks in the US, with a week each at New York, Savannah GA, Universal Studios & ending with two weeks at WDW. And trying to avoid Thanksgiving week at USO or WDW. We could go

New York > USO > Savannah > WDW - November 06 to December 11,

OR

New York > Savannah > USO > WDW - November 13 to December 18.

With the former dates, it would be nice to step out of the Theme Park bubble & do Savannah before coming back to WDW. This also puts us in NY towards the end of some fall colour, hopefully.

But I love Christmas & wondering if a week earlier affects Christmas decor at USO or WDW? When are the WDW Deluxe Resorts *fully* decorated for Christmas? Is there a general date?

Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

Sounds like a great trip! I'm wondering why Savannah? It's a great city but wondering where you came up with that idea.
Savannah in November will be really nice. I would avoid the back-tracking.

I agree with the back tracking. OP will essentially lose half a day at best with that extra travel, more if there is traffic.

If you are finding a week in Savannah too long, you could split with Charleston (I like Charleston better). In either case try to time your trip so that you can hit up a farmers/ holiday market in either or both.

No use in going to a different state when your following destination is 15 min down the road from the one before.....

If you needed a theme park break, there are many different activities in Central Florida (or a beach town even if you didn’t go in the water) that you could fit between the two (even a visit to Kennedy space center/cocoa beach might be enough)

Hello. Thank you for responding. Why Savannah? I've been wanting to visit for a few years now, since reading a travel article. Now reading Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil. We like small, intimate, walkable cities, with "historic centres". Throw in a luxury Inn with an elaborate breakfast & we're sold! We will make it to Charleston on another trip, God willing. We are slow travellers & like to settle-in a little wherever we are going.

The only thing I'd like to book soon is our DVC rental at WDW, so if I may come back to my original questions.

1. Which two weeks for WDW? November 29 to December 10 OR December 06 to December 17? We would lean towards a less crowded period between the two.

2. When are the WDW resorts *completely* decorated for Christmas?

Thank you very much for your guidance. Stay well.

Your trip sounds great!

What part of New York are you planning to visit? The peak for fall color (or colour ;) ) is typically mid-October, but that does change slightly by location and weather (heavy winds and/or rain can knock leaves off trees). Unfortunately, I would confidently say that there will be few leaves left on trees by the middle of November. In an effort to vacation within the state before the cold sets in, I took my family just last month to several state parks across New York State during the exact time you're looking to visit. I just checked my photos and sure enough, there were few leaves on any of the trees. Most of the trees were completely bare. Not sure if that matters to you or not, but wanted to pass it along.

If it's NYC you're visiting, I don't think it would matter much in regards to seeing Christmas "in the City," if that's something that's important to you. A lot of the major decorations wont be up in mid-November. So, I guess I say all that to suggest that perhaps you should base your timing on what's best for the Florida part of your trip and NOT the NY part.
