Which week would you pick - Easter or Christmas?

Hello,

Our family (me, dh, ds5, ds3,) went to Disney in Oct 08 for 10 days. However, by the next time we go to Disney, I will be working as a school counselor which means only holidays and summers to go to Disney. Summer is way too hot and out of the picture, but if you had to choose between Christmas and Easter/Spring Break which would you pick??

Thanks for the help!:)

Both weeks are extremely crowded. However, I'd go with Christmas. The decorations and special events are worth the crowds. Plus, Christmas break is spread out over two weeks, while Easter break is scrunched into one. If your break falls on the same week as college spring break (most likely), then you're in for major crowds.

I like going to WDW for Christmas to escape the cold. The crowds can be worked around. Take advantage of EMH (especially morning - you can be most efficient in the morning) and FP. Make sure to check the disney website to see what all will be going on the week you're there.

Whichever you choose, have fun!

I have been in your situation and I have done both. I would pick Christmas, it is more magical and the temps are cooler which helps when dealing with huge crowds.

If you're talking about the week between Christmas and New Years, I would suggest Easter. Yes, crowds are large both weeks, but that week between Christmas and January 1 is the BUSIEST week of the entire year at Disney. No comparison in crowd size. Personally, I wouldn't want to be in parks everyday with 80,000 or more people, it's exhausting! I've done it for July 4th, and it isn't fun. Also, the highest prices for hotels are during Christmas week. Many TS restaurants also charge a premium for food that week.

Yes, the holiday decorations are nice, but I'd still go with Easter week.

I have never been there easter week but I was there this past christmas... it was so crowded that it was hard to walk. I have never seen so many people. I will never go at christmas again. wait times for the popular rides were 3-5 hours. we didnt ride much because we refused to wait more than 1 hr for a ride.

I vote for Christmas, especially if you can go a few days before. We went last year from the 19-26 and had a wonderful time. It was crowded, but manageable as long as you have a plan.

I'm voting for Christmas simply because we've already been there for Easter (arrived Good Friday and spent Easter Sunday at the Magic Kingdom-the Easter Parade was wonderful!). It did get hot that week, though. Weather in December should be better/cooler.

Well, because Easter is the busiest and most crowded week at WDW, I would choose Christmas. Plus at Christmas you get to see all of the beautiful decorations, holiday parades/parties and candlelight processional.

:thumbsup2 Good advise! We went 12-23 to 1-2 it was very managable. The crowds kept getting bigger and bigger after 12-27 though. Next time (if there is another Christmas trip) we will plan for earlier and leave the 27th. I will be teaching too, so value time is not really an option.:sad2:

Actually, the single busiest week at Disney is between Christmas and January 1, not Easter.

Easter week is crowded, but nothing like Christmas week!

I'm just going off what my best friend, who is a manager at the Magic Kingdom, told me. She said that based on attendance numbers, Easter is the busiest with Christmas coming in second.

We were there last Easter and now this past Christmas. Truthfully, if you have a plan and arrive before opening to the park each day you will be fine. I hate big crowds but we were able to see almost everything we wanted to by early afternoon (using EMH and fast pass). We left the parks around 1-2pm to get out of the crowds. It was a wonderful trip. We were even able to find dining for our group of 9 each day. We just had to be flexible.

I think either week will be very busy but I personally feel that WDW handled the Christmas crowds better than the Easter crowds. The seemed very prepared to have everything open and fully functional with extra cast members everywhere. We did not feel this way over Easter.

If I had to pick, I'd do Christmas. I figure both times are crowded but I could tolerate the crowds for all the Christmas decorations, etc.

Wonder what it's like for Thanksgiving? Is it decorated for Christmas yet? Could you take one day off (Wednesday before Thanksgiving) and leave Tuesday night and come home on Sunday. And actually in my area, many schools are off the Monday after Thanksgiving. I live in rural Ohio so uh, that's deer hunting day. So instead of having Wednesday before off, the students now get the Monday after off. LOL!

Christmas...hands down. Sure, it's crowded...but the decorations make it worth while.
