Which week this year is Jersey week.

Yes we are from Jersey and I :rotfl2: when I hear these things. I think it is a way that we are keeping others from moving into our state. So keep thinking that we all have big hair, drive a firebird or camaro, have a relative in the mob and know Bruce Springstein.
As for Jersey week our school only get off the last 2 days of the week so we don't get a full blown week off. I would not let that scare you away from a trip...unless the rednecks are going down that same week(sorry couldn't resist)

Sorry to go off OP's original topic but I must defend us North Jerseyans! I am sorry but I am so tired of hearing these stereotypes that haven't even existed in Northern NJ since the early 90s!!!

When was the last time either of you were in NJ or North NJ for that matter? I challenge you to go to Short Hills Mall and tell me if you see aqua net, camaros, and stretch pants. Not being snarky, just sticking up for the North Jersey crowd!

I agree!!! I havent seen Aqua Net or stretch pants in years.... at the North or South end of the state.

Dani0622

I agree with you completely about the stereotypes! sorry! I just had to push the spotlight away from S. Jersey-- ;)

I am from Marlton and and i think the town would have a meeting to have you thrown out if you had big hair, wore stretch pants...or even had aqua net in your household! :lmao:

....camaros....aqua net???????? hey...do they still make either?? :rotfl:

lets stick together..the north and the south! :grouphug: lets feel the love everybody!

:smokin: maddhatir :hippie:

I am cool with sticking together! In fact, I am trying to MOVE to South Jersey! :rotfl:

Hey, the guy across the street has a new Camaro, but his wife doesnt have big hair. But they're from Philly.. :rotfl2:

Hey I started this thread :woohoo: What happened to the Jersey week Thread? :lmao: And whats up with this Redneck talk, just becouse my grandparents were second cousins is no reason to crack jokes :rotfl2: Wait come to think of it my family is pretty strange. :rotfl2: Tina

The weather was great!!!
The longest wait times were 40 minutes for us (Test Track, Peter Pan, Rockin Rollercoaster)... it seemed a little busy in the parks, but very manageable if you use the FASTPASS system.

We chatted with various nice people from NJ and PA.
The weirdest thing was hearing Christmas music and seeing holiday decorations while sweating in the heat waiting for the parades to start.

As for stereotypes .... we didn't use any "Yah you betcha" lingo (think Fargo movie) No "Okie Dokies" either.

I would not mind going to DW during Jersey Week again. It was great!!!

Sorry everyone-- dani0622 just wondering where to in SJ??

:hippie: maddhatir :smokin:

Monmouth County, looking in Hazlet, Matawan, Aberdeen, Middletown area. I know some NJ people don't think that's South Jersey but to us North Jersey crowd (I've lived in Morris, Union, and Essex county), once you go over the Driscoll bridge, you are in South Jersey! lol!
(sorry to deviate AGAIN!)

I live in Cranford - Union County. I am SOOOO glad to have another north Jerseyan agree with me that the dividing "line" between north and south Jersey is the Raritan River! I have cousins in Monmouth County and we argue over this all the time. They think they live in north Jersey! NOT.
Oh and BTW, Jersey Week is a great time (think Food and Wine Festival) to visit WDW!

For us - anything north of 78 is north NJ - south of that is just the rest of NJ - LOL! Oh and NW NJ for us is ONLY Sussex County - not the upper part of Passaic - not Warren Cty etc. :)

It's funny how the "dividing" line is different depending on where you live. I always considered the three M's (Mercer, Middlesex and Monmouth) as central, so obviously anything below that is south and anything north of that is...any guesses?

But..I've always thought of Monmouth County beaches as "north Jersey" beaches. Anything LBI or south is south Jersey.

I grew up in Middlesex County and considered it Central Jersey.
We had a summer home in Monmouth County and my friends there
always said I was from North Jersey. Now I live in Monmouth County
and still consider myself from Central Jersey.
But I will admit that the beaches in this area do seem to have most
visitors from "North" Jersey and NY.

Just a "Jersey Girl" no matter how you slice it up! :woohoo:

As a "very" southern NJ girl (Cumberland County) part of which borders the Delaware Bay, I thought the OP comments were funny!! :rotfl2: And hey, I really miss my Camaro!! Yea, we were all that and a bag of chips riding around in it with our bottles of Riunite!! :smokin:

We have been there Jersey Week and run into several families from home! Ones we didn't know were going either! My DH and I will be there this year, too!

SShhhhhh, don't tell the NJEA! :listen: I will miss convention this year!!

How early do they put the decorations up? I wasn't expecting decorations too, I was just happy with the F&W festival.

Alright, I"m the one dissing the Jerseyites. It was a joke, but I forgot how sensitive people can be about their homestate.

Would it help if I said my entire family is from Bergan County. Both parents went to Leonia High, and I've spent the better part of my summers soaking up the rays (and medical waste) on the shore at Ocean Grove in good ol' Monmouth County (btw, that's where they film all the Soprano's beach scenes, and Bruce is from Asbury, a literal stone's throw away from our house).

And I did mean it as a joke, but I wouldn't have said some of them if they werent' true.

The funniest thing is- i am always telling my husband we need to move out of jersey-- its soooo expensive and everyone is movng here (you make more here but the cost of living is higher) its getting too crowded. :crowded:

everywhere you turn they are building new homes--- i thought it was funny, the other day we were driving through voorhees NJ and they are building a new developement and there is a sign stating-- homes starting a $1,000,000.00! :lmao: usually you see starting at the low 300s or the low 400s not $1,000,000.00!

i tell him we need to move down south.... to north or south carolina!

IRONIC isnt it mattsdragon?! HA!

:smokin: maddhatir :hippie:

Gotta pipe in and agree once you go over the Driscoll Bridge its South Jersey!
I lived in Bergen County then to Somerset County. When I moved it was considered Central Jersey. Now that my mother lives in Ocean County her neighbors say they live in Central Jersey and I'm North. How does that happen I'm still in the same house? LOL
