First time going to Disney in December and was thinking of going the first week. I've heard in the past that the first two weeks in December are the best but now I've heard of Pop Warner? Cheerleaders? being there the first week. Don't know anything about that. Is something like that going to effect the crowd levels at all parks? My birthday is on the 5th and would love to be there then but maybe the second week would be better-any thoughts? Thanks

Go for your birthday, which incidentally is WALT's BIRTHDAY ALSO. It's fantastic. The parks are empty, and the decorations are great.

Thanks, I think I will still go the first week. Anyone have an experience where they found the parks crowded more the first week than the second. Thanks!

I'd second the "go for your birthday" vote. We went Dec 4-9 last year, which apparently was prime Pop Warner time - I hadn't yet discovered these boards when I booked the trip (oops). But as it turned out, it really wasn't a problem. We did notice the Pop Warner kids, especially the cheerleaders, at the MK on its EMH evening day. Otherwise, we avoided the park with EMH and didn't see any sign of Pop Warner at all. Seriously... waits of 10 min or less, even for Soarin', if you plan ahead and go early in the AM. Afternoon waits for the big attractions were listed as 45-60 min as I recall, but we didn't test those to see how accurate they were. The only place I think the Pop Warner crowd really might affect you would be at a value resort... we were at AKL and again, no sign of them.

So go and enjoy - happy birthday!
