DH and I have a hard time deciding which week in August to visit WDW.
We will be driving from NJ to WDW.
We were leaning on the week of August 21 due to lower crowd level.
However, DH read somewhere that no many shows will run during late August and rehabs may start then.

Thank you all in advance.

It's going to be abysmally hot whatever week you go, so I would definitely choose the 4th week, because it will have the lowest crowds. More kids will be in school the 4th week than were in school on the 3rd week.

I'd also go later in August as the previous poster said its HOT like surface of the sun, catastrophic-deodorant-failure hot. But if you go crowds are manageable! And of course you can always swim!

We were there the 7th through the 30th this year and I can tell you that the crowds diminished drastically as our trip progressed, particularly after the 15th or so.

The entire month will be super hot, so no benefit or disadvantage on the front to any of those weeks. Crowds will get lighter in the 2nd half of the month. We always go the end of August (week leading up to Labour Day) and the crowds are very manageable, they pick up some for the weekend itself, but the week before is great.

There is a huge cliff at the end of August where everyone disappears and everything closes early. It's a great week, we will be at AKL through Labor Day.

The later the better. We went early Aug twice and it was very crowded. We went to US the 3rd week once, right before my kids' school started, and it was perfect and no need for that express pass. So, 3rd or 4th week.

August is extremely hot. We've done it twice and gone the last week both times. The crowds do die down at the end of the month. That's why we chose the last week.

I too have gone twice. Both in August.....Heat will be the same from July Thru Sept. but It seemed like the locals/southern states were only there on the weekends later on. The problem we encountered were the Hurricanes... Yes it's true you have the traditional afternoon storms, anytime throughout the very hot summers, but this was crazy... The first time in 2012, 4 days was constant rain, and last year we hit at least 3 full days with some other quick hitters.... Point I'm trying to make is this....* we had bad timing going end of 3rd to the 4th, so we're going to change it up to end of 2nd wk. through the 3rd... Here's to hoping it's not sooo crazy..LoL BTW this is next year...:teeth:

Be prepared to be uncomfortably hot. After several trips in August, we vowed never to visit in july/aug again after the heat of last summer.

We had sooo many from our group alone (this past August) that suffered some type of problem ( due to the heat )..

We have gone either the third or fourth week of August every year the last five years and the crowds are very manageable! We don't mind the heat and enjoy that we are able to do everything we want to do due to lower crowds

When we go in August we go in the last week. It's still surface of the sun hot but the crowds aren't bad because many of the southern schools have
already gone back at that point!

This has always been our week. We talked about going in the fall this year, but the free dining bounceback offer can't be beat.

Mike D, can you please explain what the "free dining bounce back offer" is? Is that for someone who has been to the park recently??

When we were there last August/September, the current bounceback offer was for free dining if you booked a visit between 8/27 and 10/1. Bouncebacks need to be booked before you check out. We had talked about not using it and traveling the first week of December instead, but it's too hard to throw away almost $2,000 in free dining plans.

thank you for the explanation. enjoy your trip and food!

We go every August. Last year was 6-14th, this year we will be there the 2nd-12th. If we could go at the end of the month we would. We could book the bounce back offer and less crowds would be great, unfortunately I have to be back at school most years by the 18th. That being said if I was you I'd go late in August, the crowds thin out and the parks are still open late.
