Which WDW Resorts Have the Best Holiday Decorations?

We'll be arriving Jan. 1 and I understand that the holiday decorations will still be up. If we were to do a tour of the resorts and parks that first night with the goal of seeing the best decorations Disney has to offer, where should we go? We're planning on having a FITS pass so we won't be wasting a Hopper Day by hitting the parks just to see the sights, but I'm thinking that the resorts are probably more spectacular than the parks. We were there early Nov. 2002 and the Boardwalk and GF had a Christmas tree up but that was about it. Any suggestions.

GF has a little shop that is actually a giant gingerbread house. WL has a whole bunch of gingerbread houses that are quite detailed & really amazing.
BC has a carousel made of gingerbread.

I always thought GF & BC had the most spectacular Christmas decorations. Dolphin has a really impressive pointsettia tree with a train around it....

My favorite is Wilderness Lodge but all the resorts and Parks are great, so just visit as many as you can...The Grand Floridan is also a must see.

be sure to check out the decorations at the AKL. Very beautiful and unusual. Don't miss the gingerbreat "village" near Boma (another good reason to eat at BOMA!).

Also, don't forget about the Dolphin. They do a great job with decorations (esp. in the main Lobby) but many miss it as they think only the true Disney resorts go all out for them.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing - I'd love to hear more! We're going in December for the first time next year and I just can't wait. We've been down in November when they had started to put up decorations - we saw GF in all its glory, which was just stunning. That gingerbread house defies description! But I can't wait to see all the others too! We're planning to stay at WL because it seems like the perfect place for the holidays.

I hope others will share their experiences here!::yes::

We've stayed at most WDW resorts around the holidays and while most are visually pleasing and unique....our two favorites are the GF and WL for different reasons.

The GF has an elegant feel and the WL is very rustic (I always want to sleep in the WL lobby around the tree and fireplace...but alas, my DW and 2 DD's won't let me!) :teeth:

Both are beautiful!::yes::

the lodge is fabulous!! however, the gingerbread houses have not been on display there for several years.:( :tongue:

Our favorites are the Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and BoardWalk Inn. Disney does a great job with its Christmas decorations! ::yes::
