Which WDW park first?

Help us plan our WDW visit?

Family of two adults and two children (12 & 9) are arriving on a Monday morning in April and Leaving late on the following Thursday. We are staying in a Disney property and have purchased four day tickets without the Park Hopper option.

We are thinking of going to Hollywood studios on the first day after arriving, then spend the next day at the Magic Kingdom and the following day at Epcot. On our last partial day before heading to the airport, we thought we would see as much of the Animal Kingdom as possible.

What do you think?

I think your plan sounds great ( at least you have a plan)

For us, we always need to do MK first to see the castle and get the "feeling"

Is this your first visit? My advice is to plan, but not to overplan... yes, pick which day you're going to see each Park. Yes, make some dining reservations (you have done that, right?).

DON'T plan every minute. Look at posts here, and various books that you can buy and decide for each Park:
1. What you HAVE to see.
2. What you think might be cool.
3. What you could see.
4. What you have no interest in.

Make some vague plans that ensure you see you list from #1 and go down the list from there. Please don't do what so many people do and plan every single minute... it doesn't work and only causes stress.

Hey there mgsculpture!

This is YOUR vacation ... have fun ... go wild! That is half the fun! My family and I always start off with Epcot but that is just us.

2 things I will suggest:

1. I agree 100% with DisCopper ... DON'T plan every minute! You do that and you'll be more focused on sticking to the plan than enjoying the ride. Besides, not getting everything done is the perfect excuse to go back!!!

2. If you don't know I'd call Disney ... any hotel or whatever should have the information. But find out what parks open early on what day and AVOID THAT PARK! A park with an early open is a guarantee that it will be more crowded than normal ... even if you're a resort guest it is still a good idea to avoid those parks. Think about it ... you have the normal crowds plus all the resort guests piling in during the early morning hours.

We usually try to hit either Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios on our first day, but that is all predicated on which park has extended hours that day.

Good plan. AK closes early so good idea to do it the last partial day.
Arrive at the parks when they open.

We absolutely love to make the most out of our trips as it is the most magical place in the world to be! We go online and check the extra magic hours for every day of our trip and that determines which day we do what park. They have the extra magic hours for the morning and at night. I have noticed that over the past few years, the more resorts that are being built, the more crowded the extra magic hours are becoming at night so I would make the best of the morning magic hours. As for what park to visit first, Definitely the magic kingdom. That to me means I am officially at Disney World! it sounds corny but just seeing the castle and hearing the music of main street. I don't know what it is but It is the best feeling in the world! have a grteat trip and try not to over plan.
