Which way to Disneyland? TR (comparison update 7/26)

Oh wow!! What beautiful scenery you got to see on the train! Can't wait to hear all about your time at DL!!!

Yea, DL TR is coming!

Great update.
I'll be taking the train from San Diego upto LA in september and those pics have me excited. the journey looks a really pretty one and the trains look much bigger than we have in the UK

It is a pretty ride. You will enjoy it!

What a beautiful ride! I'm sure the girls loved being on the train. I just went on my first train ride to Chicago a couple months ago, and I'm 22 :)

I'm excited to hear about Disneyland!

Don't feel too bad. My DH is 31 and has yet to be on a train ride.:goodvibes

The train sounds looks and sounds fun. Can't wait to see and hear more:goodvibes

Thanks a bunch.:)

I'm loving your report! So far I've made it to your Sea World day! You are such a cute family and I can't wait to read on to your Disneyland days! I just adored Disneyland and that's what started my Disney love in 2006. I can't wait to return- hopefully in the next couple of years. It's cost-prohibitive though... much cheaper to fly to Florida than LA for us!

Anywho- gotta go to work-can't wait to read more though!

I noticed your going to Captiva Island is it your first time?

Great trip report!!

We'll be taking the train from Oceanside to Anaheim in September. I'm glad to hear the Anaheim station is a cheap cab ride from the park!

Can't wait to hear about your visit to DL....

I love your TR!

Your little ones are too precious! The beach pics were fabulous.

Can't wait to read more!popcorn::

I love the train ride pics.... when we were little we took a train from RI to DC and it was great.

How long was the train ride??

I noticed your going to Captiva Island is it your first time?
No-it's the second trip for DD and I and the 3rd for DS. DH went there 2 or 3 times as a teen growing up! We're goin' w/the in-laws. I'm happy to be chilln' on a beach w/nothin' to do soon! :beach:

OK! All caught up and waiting for more!

I LOVE the pictures you took on the beach of the girls. They are really beautiful snapshots of their childhood that they will cherish when they grow up!!

Well, you are lucky. It is cheaper for us to fly to CA but WDW will always be our fav.

Yep, there were about 4 cabs just waiting outside and we were the only ones at that time that took a cab.

I love your TR!

Thanks daisy. :welcome:

I love the train ride pics.... when we were little we took a train from RI to DC and it was great.

How long was the train ride??

The train ride was under 2 hours which seemed just the right amount of time for the girls.

OK! All caught up and waiting for more!

You are right! I love the beach pictures too.:goodvibes

Do you go or have you ever gone to the Bubble Room? We tryied the Island Cow when we spent the weekend last month at Sanibel Harbour resort and spa. We live in Davie which part of Fort Lauderdale so its not to long of a drive. We want to stay on the island next time.:goodvibes

Howard Johnson was recommended here on the DIS. You can get a 10% discount through mousesavers. It is a prime location for sure. They have a terrific new splash park for the kids. We really did miss the Disney feel you get from staying on sight. Disneyland has only three overpriced resorts because of all the neighboring hotels within walking distance. I soon discovered it just wasn't quite the same. Our hotel room was okay. The beds were new and comfy. The bathroom was pretty outdated with some cracks and holes in the trim. We did have an amazing view of fireworks from the balcany however that is almost unattainable at WDW.

After finding our room the girls wanted to call daddy right away. They feared he would be mad that we were in DLR without him. They were relieved when daddy seemed excited for them and gave them permission to enter the Land of Disney without him.;)

We headed out toward DTD for our dinner reservations at Rainforest Cafe. I was excited to dine here. We never had at WDW because it wasn't included in the dining plan.

Here is what you see before you cross the street to Disneyland!

I was a little disappointed I didn't get to see the girls reactions as they saw DLR for the first time. I had turned around to go back and get the stroller. Granita went ahead with the girls. I had purchased the Maclaran Volo $100 for this trip. It is an amazing stroller and so worth the $. It holds up to 55 pounds and is a fold-up umbrella stroller. It pushes so easily and the handle bars are higher.

It had already been a lifesaver on the vacation. At the zoo we were able to walk right on the moving walkways with the stroller. Other families with the wider, average size strollers were turned away because they would not fit.

Even DD8 plopped in the stroller a couple times and it always worked like a gem.

I thought it was funny when Granita expected that we should be seated EXACTLY at the time of our reservation. I tried to explain we were lucky we were guaranteed seating. We were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation. The girls had a great time roaming the gift shop while waiting and making pressed pennies.

I loved the moving animals and atmosphere of this restaurant. I didn't find it at all chaotic like I had read in other reviews. DD5 loves elephants and a waiter was nice enough to let them stand and take a picture.

We loved watching the colorful fish in the tanks right next to us.

Granita and I had some drinks that were fun but neither of us could taste the alcohol.

I came equiped with a coupon for a free appetizer and they were nice enough to let me use it for my meal. I had great chicken quesadillas. We loved watching them bring the sparking valcanos (chocolate cake and ice cream). They would scream "valcano" as they walked by with the huge dessert wish had sparklers on top. We wanted to order one but were all too full at the end. The lightening storms every 20 minutes were a hoot! We had a great time dining at Rainforest Cafe.

When we left the Rainforest it was dark and after 9 p.m. We made the mistake of looking through World of Disney. It was CROWDED.:crowded: I later figured out the DLR had just closed so a ton of people must visit downtown after closing. I wanted to get Birthday Mickey ears for DD5. Granita took the girls and I stood in a huge line to buy the ears. Then Granita decided on a few things and stood in another huge line. You literally could not move. If I had not wanted to surprise DD5 with the ears I would have jetted straight out of there. While we were still in the store precious DD5 fell asleep in the stroller. I was so thankful I had turned around for that stroller.:worship: There was no way I was going to carry her home on the one mile walk. She got a lot of compliments for being so lady-like while sleeping.:rotfl2: We tried to take a picture when we got back to the hotel but she woke up. Regardless she is still in the position she had been sleeping in with her legs crossed.

Alright, we made it back to the hotel and it was time for us to all tuck in so we could be there for rope drop in the morning.:thumbsup2

Up Next: Our first day at Disneyland!

That stroller sounds perfect! I have a stroller that we only use at Disney. I'm 5'9 and it was hard to find something I could push easily. Got it on sale for $48 at Target. Love it!

Our DD's have the same pink crocs. :goodvibes

So cute that they called dad to get his permission. I feel like you're going to get that reaction you wanted here pretty soon. ;)

I have the Macleren Volo too and it is worth every penny!! :goodvibes Love the pics, and Rainforest Cafe sounds great! That is so funny about your DD falling asleep in the stroller so lady like! :goodvibes Can't wait to read what's next!!

Cute update- I think that's sweet the girls wanted to make sure Daddy was OK with it. I'm sure my DD is going to do the same when we go in Sept- only instead of clearing it w/Dad- she's gonna be worried about her big brother!

Your girls are just to cute. I know we all keep saying that over and over but you just can't help it :goodvibes. Calling Daddy is something my boys would do. They would say does daddy know:). Can't wait to hear about when daddy arrives.

Yay, you're there!! And Daddy was okay with it....cute!!;)

Sounds like a nice dinner, we ate at the one in WDW last year, it was fun, cute theming but our middle son, was 2 1/2 at the time was TERRIFIED of that place! It was our 1st meal at the World and we were so afraid he'd be afraid of the character the rest of our trip, thankfully he wasn't....but you wouldn't have thought that would be the case that 1st night!!

So....tell me more about your stroller....is it good for every day stuff too? Lightweight? parent cup holder? storage underneath? Now that our older two pretty much walk, looking for a smaller stroller for our little one that we can use until he's done.....any thoughts are appreciated!! Oh...and does it recline? Thanks!!

Can't wait to hear more!!!!:yay:
