Last year we borrowed a pair from a friend and found them very helpful so we thought we would buy our own for this trip. It seems like you have to be careful not to buy the more powerful 5 mile versions as you run into the FCC license issue. I have seen posts regarding Motorola talkies, but they don't say which one is good. I'm also wondering if there is another maker to consider.

Has anyone used them recently and would you recommend your model? Please share the specific model, whether you like it or not.

Thanks!

I would like to know this too. I was thinking on getting some for our trip to Disney World in Oct.

Haven't ever used them there, but we have Motorola Talkabouts and love them at the mall and in bigger department stores. I think ours are the 2 mile radius ones.

A hint if you have a Target. They are clearancing a bunch right now. They are 30% off right now, but will go 50% and then 75% eventually, so it would be a good time to get them there. We got ours there last year when they were 50% because things like these are harder to find at 75%.

i have these from motorola. we used them in the parks last year. they were a lot of fun! they are on target.com for only $30.

We started out with the Motorola FRS
radios a number of years ago. We've been
very happy with them, but recently we found
that the FRS radio channels were getting
real busy. We then got the combined
FRS/GMRS radios -the GMRS channels
are 1 full watt, and the FRS channels are 1/2
watt.
Now, if you get the GMRS radios you should
get a FCC licence, which is $75.00 for
five years. You can apply on the FCC
website -it's not too bad.
We've had Moto's the whole time -we have
friends on the board that had Cobra's that
worked pretty well -the advantage with the
Cobras is that the Cobras use the same
sub-code setup that the Moto's do, so theyre
compatible.

With kids and such, and things like some of
us like thrill rides, and some of us don't, they're worth their weight in gold......

Thanks for thoughts everyone! I went to Target before posting and was overwhelmed by the selection. That's when I decided to post. It sounds like I'm safe with Motorola or Cobra.

Thanks!
