My mother and I leave on Wednesday for the Yacht Club (yippee), we will have her manual wheelchair and are renting a scooter from Walker. I'm an experienced pusher and am not afraid of distance on flater surfaces but I'm unsure of the hilliness of the terrain in each park..which conveyance should we use in which parks? (I ask because she doesn't find the ECV as comfortable as her chair and I'm looking for give her a break from it if possible).

My DD uses a manual wheelchair, but I've thought about this because we are thinking of bringing her power wheelchair on our next trip.
My vote would be for the ecv at Epcot because it is more wide open and easier driving there. There is also a killer hill that goes from France to England. A few of the attraction buildings (The Land and the one about Life -never can remember it's name) have big hills in front of the building to get up to the door.
MK is more congested and would be easier to push the wheelchair. AK is kind of hilly and bumpy. If she's more comfortable in the wheelchair seat, you may want to use the wheelchair there for comfort on the bumps, even though many people find it hard wheelchair pushing there.
The Studio really doesn't have many hills, so I don't think it matters one way or the other.
I'm sure you'll get other opinions from other readers. Have fun.

I would agree with Sue about the various difficulties.

HOWEVER, as long as you have an ECV rental from offsite your mother will have more freedom using that than the wc.

Mindy,

Despite Florida being a pretty flat state in General, Disney have added hills ocassionally to the parks. With the exception of MGM (the flattest park), they all have hills. Magic Kingdom is all on the second floor (the utility corridors are the first) so there is a ramp up to the entrance though the park is flat thereafter.

As Sue says, there are a few hills at epcot, but at least you are closeenough to go back to your room and change your means of transport mid day.

Beware though of Animal Kingdom. It has mild hills all over. You should also be aware that part of the 'theming' at Animal Kingdom is to have fake mud tracks all over with animal footprints and so on. This makes pushing a chair in this park especially hard work. Animal Kingdom should definitely be on your ECV list!
