Hello:

Have some adult friends who want to stay in a value resort at wdw. They are looking for shade around the resort near pool and just for walking from here to there.

My instincts think that the older all stars would have more shade as the trees would have time to grow, but I have never been to any of them yet, so if someone who has been and could help that would be great.

They were looking at pop, but we looked at some pics and did not see many trees there, but we may be wrong. Help

Deb.

Pop has very few trees.

All Stars have some in the back of the resort, but there isn't much for shaded walkways at any of them. Any way they can book a moderate? The Port Orleans resorts have a bit more in terms of shade.

Most pools at WDW are wide open with no trees around. SAB probably has the most shady spots.

I would say Port Orleans Riverside. I remember there being alot of trees there. It was almost like you were in the middle of the woods. There is a bar near the pool that has a covered area where you can sit in the shade.

That is one of my biggest complaints at the pools, not enough shade. I can't sit directly in the sun for very long, not just because I burn but I also get severe headaches. At the All Star pools I kept having to move my chair to keep in the shade of the buildings or other structures. There aren't enough tables with shade umbrellas here. This year at Pop I didn't have a problem. There seemed to be more tables around the pool and I never had a problem getting one. I had an umbrella that attaches to my chair that I use at my sons baseball games and I never had to use it.

YOu won't find much in the way of shade or trees at any of the value resorts. If this is something that is important to you, you might consider trying a moderate. PO-Riverside has many trees and a great deal of shade in their Alligator Bayou section. It is quite beautiful. We loved staying there!

When we stayed at AS Sports in the summer and we were out at the pool during the day I did indeed find plenty of shade. Since it is one of the older Value resorts the Palm trees are very large and the vegetation at the Surfs Up pool is quite mature and does give quite a bit of shade. I do not go into the pools but I absolutely must have shade or I'll melt. I never had a problem finding a lounge chair with shade. We were there for 7 days and went to the pool in the afternoon at least 4 times. Pop Century's trees did not offer much shade when we were their last summer. :sunny:
