Which "Value" location and why?

Which "Value" resort would you stay in for just 1 night?

  • Pop Century

  • All-Star Music

  • All-Star Movies

  • All-Star Sports

  • I wouldn't stay in a "Value" resort for any price! Move up to something better?

My reasons for staying at a Value resort for this trip are:
  • I needed a cheap place to stay on a Friday night before moving into my DVC location. Didn't want to spend 40+ points for the one night.
  • I am returning to my room after a night at MNSSHP. I suspect we will all be out cold within 45 minutes fo falling back into our room.
  • We will be out fairly early, moving over to DVC and checking in before heading to the parks.

Because of all of these reasons, I figure I couldn't do much better off property and at least I know the level of "quality" to expect by staying at a WDW resort.

Thanks....

You dont have to tell the reasons why!:goodvibes
We are doing the same thing...our DVC stay starts on a Sunday...we chose to fly in Sat due to the HIGH cost of fares right now...we booked 3 rooms at Music!
it receives wonderful reviews, rooms have been refurbished....looks lovely!

Besides....I think they play tracks from Elton John throughout the resort.....

Pop Century is a must---my number one reason being the BUS! Instead of cramming every all star into one bus at the end of the night....pop century gets their own. Plus it's just more disney to me than the others:wizard: .

I've heard so many stories about the All-Stars sharing busses, and I'm here to say that it has NEVER HAPPENED TO US.

We were at Sports in January of 2004, and never shared a bus with the other All-Stars.

We were at Sports at Christmas (December) of 2006, and never shared a bus with the other All-Stars.

We were at Music last week, and never shared a bus with the other All-Stars.

Perhaps it happens, but we've NEVER had it happen to us. We park-hop, go early, come back in the afternoons, go back in the evenings, and come home late, and have NEVER shared a bus at the All-Stars.

Pop is a nice hotel, and we'd stay there again, but only if none of the All Stars were available. Pop is just way too loud.

I chose Music because it's the quietest of the Values. Also, I would stay there for an entire visit!!!

We've stayed in all four of the Values, and Music is our favorite. Pop is a nice resort, BUT I believe the number of rooms at Pop has exceeded critical mass when it comes to the buses.

Granted this was during Free Dining last September, but come on. An hour AFTER evening EMH has concluded at Epcot (we're talking almost 1 in the morning) and the line is still 30 minutes long and buses are still coming every 3 minutes. Thare is something wrong there. I look over at the All-Stars lines and they have combined again, and the line is non-existant.

I would either upgrade to a moderate or go off-site. The Disney value resorts are atrocious to look at. Call me a snob, but I wouldn't want to spend a night in a "value" hotel anywhere.

I think the values are fun and wonderful!! However, I wouldn't want to spend a night offsite at any price!! I guess you could call me a snob. "An on-site snob!" :thumbsup2

I would pick Pop Century or All Star Movies.

Looks like my post touched a nerve.

You ARE a snob. You disgrace the real person whose name you've taken as your username.

:lmao: You do realize who you are referring to do you not? I can't even see him staying in a WDW Deluxe resort-especially since the Four Seasons is coming. I guess that would make him a snob too-looks like I'm in good company then ;) :goodvibes

To those who believe my opinions concerning the architectual style of Disney's value resorts is "wrong"-all opinions concerning the look and style of any building are subjective. Art is subjective. Personally speaking I think a 40 foot statue of a Dalmatian is atrocious looking. Another person might love it. I also think the architecture of the Excalibur hotel in Vegas is atrocious looking, but some people absolutely love it. Fine by me. It's nothing to get upset about :goodvibes To each their own.

Good for you Blue_Eyes :goodvibes I love that username BTW ;)

Of course it touched a nerve. Had you said, "I just don't care for them," or "They're not my style," or even, "to me they are atrocious," that would have been your opinion and yours alone.

But instead you made a derrogatory and inflamatory declarative statement about places that have a wide and devout following. You offered no objective evidence, yet made your statement as though it were an established fact.

Nor did you qualify your statement as one of personal opinion, which would have led others to simply say, "Okay, that's cool. But I do like the Values."

It's also rather confrontational to come into a thread that is obviously crafted to attract fans of the Values, and post a derragatory comment about all of them; it's like walking into the middle of a Star Trek convention and yelling, "Star Trek is stupid!" Them's fightin' words to a Trekkie, and calling the WDW Values "attrocious" is fightin' words to fans of the Values.

We stayed at POP, Sports and Movies and we enjoyed POP most. There's a large selection of food, the pool is great, nice pathways and a large gift shop. And we too, used the transportation back to Sports and Movies, and it took too long to get to the resorts because we made stops at all of the resorts.

Sports would be my least favorite. . . .bad experience there.

Good luck on your decision. :thumbsup2

On my last trip we stayed at movies because it was such a short trip we weren't going to have time to enjoy the resort so decided to save some money. We were quite spoiled after staying at WL, but for such a short trip it was ok. You are going for an even shorter time than us, so for one day, a value isn't that bad.
The reason we picked movies is because we love movies and we asked to stay at Toy Story which is our favorite Disney(Pixar) movie. Now that part was awesome. We got to the resort around 10:30PM after a whole day of working at the office, a flight and we were exhausted. But the minute we saw the big door to Andy's room we got so excited we took lots of pictures. And the huge Buzz and Woody were like long lost friends. So when we thing of that trip, we can hardly remember that there wasn't a nice restaurant on property (we were in the parks anyway), or that the lobby was quite generic. We remember the feeling that we will never forget of being in Andy's room and seeing all his toys who were larger than us. And it was very nice seeing them again at night when we were returning from the parks.

Right now I have Pop booked for September. One reason is that I read at multiple sources that Pop has its own bus but the 3 AS resorts share. I just read on this thread that they now each have their own and last Sept. there was a much longer wait for Pop buses back to the resort than the AS.

To make things more confusing, I read on a different thread that AS-Mu and possibly AS-Sp have pillow top beds, making them much more comfortable than Pop.

My girls will be 3 and 7 by the trip, and although mid-day noise will not be an issue, noise at night (or lack of it) is a concern. Some people are saying Pop is way too noisy, others act like they are all the same.

I just want a great trip for my wife and girls, so any additional advice/ comments are welcome.

BTW- I would have some input about AS-Mo from last February, but we lucked out. Because of a cheerleading competition, they were overbooked and we were bumped up to AKL for no additional cost. Wow, the differences in the 2 lobbies were night and day.

I don't use the buses very much when I stay on-site, because I always rent a car. Last year I stayed at ASMO and didn't use the buses once; however, the last few times I dd use buses, I didn't see much difference between Pop and the All-Stars. Pop doesn't share buses, but the buses to and from Pop are just as crowded and run at the same intervels as those at the All-Stars. And the All-Stars don't always share buses, either.

I haven't been in any of the rehabed rooms at ASSP or ASMU with the new matresses, but even the old non-pillow-top mattresses at the All-Stars are softer and more comfortable than the mattresses at Pop. Pop's beds are bricks, and have been every time I've stayed there. The old beds at the All-Stars are far better, and if the beds in the rehabed rooms are even better... then the new beds are even better.

Night-time noise in the Values depends on location; I don't think Pop is any noisier than Sports, but Music is definitely the quietest in my experience. Being close to the pools, main halls, or central walkways in any of the Values is noisier than being farther away. The outsides of the buildings facing the parking lots tend to be quieter (though any part of any resort can sometimes be noisy, depending on the neighbors). My favorite part of any of the Values is the Broadway section of Music; it's nice and quiet back there.

Geez.....

All I wanted was a few opinions about some of the resorts I hadn't been to yet. I needed some frame of reference for my decision.

I didn't really mean to get people ticked at each other!

Those that answered..... Thanks!

I chose All Star Sports with POP a close second behind. I like Sports for its layout. All rooms are fairly close to the Main bldg. Typically, bus picks up first here and drops off first. Also, food area is a bit less crowded than POP. POP bus service is exclusive to that resort, a plus. POP has bigger selection in food area bit more crowded. Only stayed at Music once, but didnt care for the layout.
