Which "Value" location and why?

Which "Value" resort would you stay in for just 1 night?

  • Pop Century

  • All-Star Music

  • All-Star Movies

  • All-Star Sports

  • I wouldn't stay in a "Value" resort for any price! Move up to something better?

If you were going to stay only one night at a "Value" resort prior to moving over to DVC, which location would you pick and why?

I originally planned to get to WDW 11/1 and now I see the last MNSSHP is on 10/31, so the family wants me to add a day.... so now I need to come up with something quick.

I have made this a poll, but would also like to hear your reasons why you make your choice.

There are 4 of us..... DS(12) and DD(12) and "us old folks"! :lmao:

All thoughts appreciated.

Thanks....

My fave is All-Star Music.

I like Music because it's the quietest of the 4 Values, and has the largest number of rooms close to the parking lots. It's also laid out the best - in a long straight line - so it's easiest to navigate (though the walk from the back of the resort to Melody Hall can be pretty long).

pop century

have you seen the place? it's awesome!

and we love the lakeside walking path - maybe someday they'll even finish the other half of the resort.... ;)

not only would we stay one night, we've stayed for weeks and enjoyed it, no complaints - hey, i'd even stay a month if that was the only way i could be at disney!

I would stay at Pop Century, just because it is the newest. 2nd choice would be Movies.

I would choose All Star Music if I absolutely had to....BUT, if I could upgrade, I would.

Good luck!

I plan on doing the same thing next year! Since I will be arriving on a Saturday, I want to save the higher weekend cost of the DVC room and go value for the one night. I will be staying at the POP, partially because I have generally heard better reviews, but also because I love the 80's stuff!!!

I would either upgrade to a moderate or go off-site. The Disney value resorts are atrocious to look at. Call me a snob, but I wouldn't want to spend a night in a "value" hotel anywhere.

I won't call you a name, as you asked, but you're wrong about the Disney Value resorts. They are not atrocious, and they are all comfortable and pleasant places to stay with adequate basic amenities.

I selected Movies b'c you have kids, it's got great theming, and you'll avoid the sports groups who get slotted into Sports. If it were just you two "old folks", then I'd pick where we're staying - AS Music as I've read it's quieter.

Kids = movies!

We have stayed at Pop and ASMovies and they were both great.

But asking my kids and DH, they all said they preferred Pop.

I like that Pop has its own bus system. And it is very cute. But so is ASMovies.

I would stay at either again.

OK! SNOB! LOL
I wouldn't say that the values are atrocious at all, but then again I don't have a lot of money to burn needlessly to stay in the deluxes.... as of yet, ;) some day. :cloud9:

I looooved staying at the POP and so did my kids, it was fun, it was newer than other resorts, which told me the beds would be more comfortable (they weren't the best and they weren't the worst, they didn't hurt me which was important, I have back issues) and the rooms wouldn't be so worn down like maybe some of the other one's.(which to find out some have been renovated) I think you will have no problems staying at a value, check them all out and see what appeals the most to you, go to AllEarsNet.com and look at some reviews and make your decision, there are plenty of photos on this site to look at so don't be shy and dive in to see what the values have to offer, you might be suprised.

POP

I just love the atmosphere and I have great memories there super fun!!!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Ive stayed at the Pop a few times

Use my DVC points for the first Sun-Fri, Pop over the wknd and then back to DVC points Sun-Fri
works for me - dont want to use the double points to stay at DVC over the wknd

You ARE a snob. You disgrace the real person whose name you've taken as your username.

I would go with Music. It's not as crazy as Pop and the rooms have been recently refurbished. I'm doing the same thing in May, arriving on Saturday and spending one night at Music before moving to the Beach Club Villas.

That's a little harsh! We've stayed a Pop a few times for a night or two before moving to our DVC resort, to save weekend points. It's fine for one night, but (and I'm not a resort snob;) ) if we were to stay more than a night I'd try to upgrade to a mod. The theming is fun at Pop, but the rooms are so tiny and noisy! I found POFQ a much more relaxing place to be, but still have the food court, which is so handy.

My reasons for staying at a Value resort for this trip are:
  • I needed a cheap place to stay on a Friday night before moving into my DVC location. Didn't want to spend 40+ points for the one night.
  • I am returning to my room after a night at MNSSHP. I suspect we will all be out cold within 45 minutes fo falling back into our room.
  • We will be out fairly early, moving over to DVC and checking in before heading to the parks.

Because of all of these reasons, I figure I couldn't do much better off property and at least I know the level of "quality" to expect by staying at a WDW resort.

Thanks....

I respectfully disagree about the harshness. Your reasons for going for a mod instead of value are valid and don't reek of snobbery.

The Value resorts are fun for the kids too.

They can run around, being amazed at the huge icons. They can have FUN there. That is why we chose them.

They are decorated cute, the food courts have lots of selection, the gift shops have lots of stuff, the staff is great, the pools are fun and plentiful, and you can still get towel animals!

And POP has a nice walking path. We took a big walk around it, and saw the other Pop section that never opened across the lake, which was really cool to see. We walked out on the bridge, and saw tons of cute turtles in the lake. There was no one else out there, it was very relaxing and fun.
