My sister in law told us yesterday that she would love to take her son to WDW for the first time next year. She asked if we would go with her b/c she thought it would make his first trip more special to make a big family vacation out of it. After my mother in law convinced my DH that it was all her idea and I had nothing to do with it, he was totally sold. He not only said yes, but he was fighting me for control of the computer to show them prices. This is the man that told me after we go this December, we would not go for at least 10 years. My sister in law said that the values are the only in her price range. We are going in early December. Our party will consist of grandparents (the grandmother will probably use a wheelchair in the parks due to her health) that were last there in 2001. My brother in law, sister in law, and their 6 year old (7 at travel time) son. Brother in law hasn't been there since 1994, sister in law has only been once as a child, and their son has never been. Then us, a family of four with a 12 and 10 year old DS's. I want to make my nephew's first trip as magical as humanly possible. I have been put in total control of the trip, as I am the Disney "expert" in the family. I was leaning toward PC b/c I thought I read it has it's own bussing.
Out of all of the values, which would be the best for a small (6 adults, DS12, DS10, DN7) grand gathering?

I voted for Pop Century because we really loved the resort and thought that it has the best bus transportation of any resort at which we've stayed. (We've stayed at deluxes, moderates, and PC.) Beginning of December will be low crowds and should be quite manageable for everyone.

We have a grand gathering in October at Pop. There will be 11 of us. We have stayed there once before (2005) the kids loved it and the adults did too.

Thanks for the responses so far. Right now, I am planning two trips, one in Dec. 08, and the Grand Gathering Dec. 09. My sister and mother in law are leaving all the details to me (as of right now) and they are just worried about the pricing. It is hard on my mother in law to walk long distances because of her health, can anyone suggest a building to request at the PC that is clostest to the bus stop. I know that we will have to pay for perferred rooms to be at the closer building.

well the 60's are the closest - but they are also too close (in my mind) to the swimming pool.

would go with the 50's or 70's.

that say standard view - has a view of lake and is only a few minutes longer.

Will you be renting an ECV for your mother in law? We did for my dad in 2005. It worked out great. He was able to use it at Pop and the parks.

I was thinking that we would. We have never rented them before, so I didn't know if we could use them at the resort. I would love it if we could rent one on our fist day and then use it (in park and at the Pop) until we leave on our last day. She doesn't use one at home, but then she doesn't do the amount of walking that she will be doing at WDW. We were just thinking that renting one would making easier on her. Her health has not be very good lately and she always has lots of trouble with her knees. Also, lately she doesn't have to walk very far that it sets off an asthma attack. Do you know if you can rent them at the Pop, or if that is something that we can add to our reservation? I'm thinking that we will just have to wait until we get to the first park on our first day there.

My dad doesn't use one at home either, just at the store sometimes. He is a below the knee amputee. Last time we used Walker Mobility. www.walkermobility.com 1-888-726-6837 We did everything over the internet. It was waiting ot the Pop when we got there and we left it there (at the luggage service counter) when we left. It was very easy and convenient.

Thank you for the link!! I'll have to keep it in my favorites, and rent her one next year. I just think it will make the trip so much easier for her.
