Which use year is hard to come by nowadays? Easiest?

I know about the officially researched post but I want to know about your personal observations of what has been on sale currently/recently.

We have Dec use year contracts, and just got some october use year points at SSR. We planned to sell some dec contracts and buy different resorts in october, it seems like october points are in short supply across pretty much all properties.

We've been looking to add another Oct contract and it seems like they are few and far between.

We currently have October at AKV, when looking for our second contract there were very few October outside of Aulani. We just went to ROFR with a February use year and of course an October contract came available two days later for exactly what we wanted.

My unofficial observations:

Hardest across all resorts:

Oct
Sept
April

Easiest across all resorts:

Dec
Feb

Neutral:

March
June
Aug

October was by far the best UY for me. I considered Sept. In hindsight, sometimes I wish I would have picked August. It would have still been "OK" for me and I see resale contracts I like more frequently with Aug UY. Dec and Feb seem plentiful and are the absolute worst for my travel pattern, so it's simply not an option.

I have Feb UY and have never had a problem finding a resale contract. I like that it closely follows the calendar year so it’s not as confusing as a Dec one 🤣

Was that the February one I was looking at closely and disappeared?! LOL! Now I'm looking at October... (another resort) haha!

As an Oct use year, I second this. So few of them. I've only handful of times seem an AKV in the range we wanted for October. If you search for "use year distribution charts" in google you can find a post with a breakdown.

There hasn't been a lot of indication that they are actually doing that often or ever though.
I may be confused at what is being said here but when I was with a guide (long time guide) on Monday, he said any resale I bought at OKW would be retrofitted to my current use year. I didn't have a choice.

He said that if you bought resale thru a resale broker that DVC would change it when they loaded it into your account? If so then that was a load of something else. Any actual resale purchase will retain the same UY as it's sold to you.

If he meant "resale" in the terms of buying a sold out resort direct from DVC it actually isn't resale - it's direct - and they will sell you the same UY as you already own. I'm thinking it's this one and it's just the terminology. Resale is when you purchase from another owner and has restrictions that will be associated with it and neither contract size nor UY can be changed. DVC sells direct with all the perks even if it's direct from the original resort - OKW.

No he meant direct through Disney - it would have to be the same use year as what I have

For me it's our use year - April. I feel like many of the other use years are much more common.
