We (3 adults, 2 teen boys) are doing Universal for the first time in January and have one day for each park. Which park should we do first?

Frankly...I don't think it matters. Both parks are great so it just depends upon whether you want thrills first thing in the morning or want to wake up slowly. Either way you'll have a great time! :thumbsup2

I agree it doesn't matter which you do first.

Some of the rides can get busy quickly, the likes of Spiderman and Hulk at IOA and Jimmy Neutron and Shrek at US.
They are popular and near the front of the parks.

yeah....that's true!. to be honest though, i'd do IOA first. i've always prefered the rides there. but...they are next to each other, so you could switch parks half way through the day if you so desire. both parks have some exilent rides

I would do US first and then do IOA so you leave on a high note. US to me is the lesser of the two but it's still great.

IOA first.. get there early and do Spidey, Hulk, and the rest..no real wrong answer here, both are going to be great

We are going in Jan. I love the price of the tickets!

DS is 7yrs and he want to do Jimmy Nuetron first. Then Spiderman. He doesnt understand that there are 2 parks. So he will have to pick. The tickets will work all week so he will have his chance!

JN and Shrek are the two most popular attractions with kids at the Studios and since they are both located close to the entrance, have decent wait times.

Spiderman is usually pretty crowded as well but I'm sure you'll have a great time. If you're going mid to late January, the lines shouldn't be bad at all.

I always go to the Studios first but then I'm nuts about The Mummy. It can get quite crowded as can MIB, another favorite. I personally like the Studios way better but I don't ride the Hulk and so far no one will ride Dueling Dragons with me so once we ride Spiderman and Jurassic Park, we're pretty much done with crowded rides at IOA.

I don't think the order really matters though. Just whatever you're in the mood for first.

The most important thing is to relax and have a great time.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Keep an eye on Orlando temperatures. If one day is considerably colder than the other(60s vs 70s/80s), do Universal Studios that day. IOA has several water rides that are not to be missed and are more enjoyable on warm, sunny days.
