NEED HELP...trying to decide on DL sit down lunch...I like to make reservations instead of sitting in long CS lines. So, which would you prefer:

Carnation Cafe

Blue Bayou (I want this because I LOVE LOVE the Monte Cristo, but OMG I looked at the menu on allears...$22 :scared1:)

So, I know Cafe Orleans is CS (long lunch lines at our peak hunger time, argh!), but can you get the Blue Bayou Monte Cristo there - cheaper? I looked at that menu and it was kinda expensive, too...at least for CS.

Cafe Orleans is table service, I believe the Monte Cristo is $15.99 or so. That would be my choice! :goodvibes

I think the reason it is cheaper at cafe orleans is because you do not get the 2 side dishes you get at the BB.

I say Cafe Orleans! It's a favorite TS to a lot of people here on the boards. It's mine!

Or you could walk across the street to Mimi's & have it for $10 :lmao:

I'm KIDDING. I've had theirs & it's just not the same - it may be yummy but the experience is 1/2 the taste!! ;) I would split it. That way you're paying $15-22 for TWO meals. DD & I split mine & we were both full after & it wasn't quite a hard hit to the wallet. Plus we got the BB experience! :thumbsup2

Café Orleans is a Table Service location. It used to be a Quick Service location, but hasn't been so for quite some time now (5 years or so, approximately).

In total, there are four Table Service Restaurants in Disneyland Park (excluding Club 33):
  • Celeberation Roundup and Barbecue at Big Thunder Ranch
  • Café Orleans
  • Blue Bayou
  • Carnation Café

is it me or do the kids mals suck now
were gona go cafe Orleans for MC

Thanks...did not realize Cafe Orleans was TS. I think we will try that! Thanks for all your help

You will want to make a PS, they usually have a pretty full dining area. The MC is the same tho, just as good at CO as it is at BB really. The difference is in the restaurant itself and the fact that you get sides at BB but not at CO. But if you do CO you can get the Pomme Frites....which are just heavenly little fries! :)

If you're staying at the GCH, you might want to hop every day anyway.....& if you do (& you should).....I'd eat at the Trat in DCA, or possibly even a DTD restaurant. (or in the GCH).

STAY AWAY FROM BLUE BAYOU!!!!!!

I just went there last week and paid $33 for frozen crab cakes. I know they were frozen and not fresh because the first order that came for my wife was still frozen.

The grapes my kids got with there VERY expensive meals had white fuzzy mold on them.

The waiter did nothing for us but replace the food, which even when cooked right was not good enough to warrant the price. We paid over $100 for 2 adults and 2 kids to eat there and it was not nearly as good as Cafe Orleans or Trattoria in Adventure

I had the Baked Potato soup at Carnation Cafe last week... yummy! DS loved the Peanut Butter & Jelly painters pallet (so cute)! The chef was so sweet, he let us drag our double stroller into the restaurant because our 3 year old was sound asleep in it and we didn't want to wake him.

We also ate at Blue Bayou, Trattoria and Celebration Round Up (among others... I'm just referencing what is talked about in this thread).

Blue Bayou was good but good grief, the bill was $190 for 4 adults and 2 kids. And that was with me not ordering anything (I just had a little of my Mom's, Dad's, and my husbands). We did order 2 desserts though. :) My Dad's Jambalaya was VERY good.

Celebration Round Up had the best food by far... everything was exceptional... not your typical BBQ fare! Their bbq sauce was soooooo good!

Trattoria by far the worst food. I had the Vegetarian Lasagna and it was nothing to write home about. My Dad had the meat one and it was fine but nothing special. My husband had a salad but thought it was boring (although pretty). Maybe we ordered wrong but we were expecting better food.

I really wish you had spoken with a manager about this, I bet they would have done more for your party. :( I know I've NEVER EVER had rotting food at BB and we have eaten there quite a bit in the past couple of years.

YAY!!!! I'm glad you liked the BBQ, we did too! :) Loved it!!!

I'm worried now, I made PS for my bday lunch at the Trat, I hope something changes!!!

Being from Texas, BBQ is as available as gas stations...there is one on every corner. Not that we don't want to try it, but nothing beats Texas BBQ, so we are going to pass on that. Thanx for the info though. Plus, OMG, that is expensive.

We went to Blue Bayou in 2007. Everyone in our party raved about it. My DH said it was the best MC he ever had. Unfortunately, I had such a migraine at the time that I did not even touch my food. They even took it back and did not charge me. The experience was great sitting by the water. I think on our DL day we will try CAFE ORLEANS...I finally want to try the MC everyone raves about ;).

On our DCA day we will probably eat (and share) at the GCH CS and head back to the Concierge lounge for some snacks.
