Well, I came into this thread after you posted your December option -- have you checked availability on that option? I'd wager that VWL is a popular choice that time of year...
As for options 1 and 2 -- well, I'm a huge fan of "as long as humanly possible" when it comes to vacation time if there is an extensive travel time involved. Doing a short trip isn't so bad if you're a half day away by car or can easily fly down -- but looking at a 15 hr drive like we do every time (or at the very least a 1 hr drive and a flight with a layover -- ugh) it just doesn't pay off as well to do the short jaunts. I have no issue with borrowing -- I prefer to do that versus lose pts! Besides, it adds credence to any future request for an add-on!
As for August -- I'd say it depends on how you feel about water? Our family LOVES the pools and water parks. We have been in Oct and Jan when it was WAYYYYY too cold and/or wet to swim -- kids were MAJORLY bummed. We have had great weather in Dec too -- but what I'm driving at is that ya just never know what you'll get on the off season. In August, by golly, it WILL be warm enough to swim and hit the water parks!! As for rain -- we're complete weirdos. We like summer rains -- evne the ol' thunderbumpers. Clears out all the chickens and leaves the parks clear for us! EPCOT is great when it rains -- you just scramble from one attraction to the next inbetween rain, with no crowds 'cuz everyone else stayed back at the resort! August is also a somewhat lower crowd season, thanks to southern schools going back around the 1st or 2nd week. We're doing August again this year and plan to stay for 12 days this time. We will take some side trips along the way down / back -- will be close to a 3 week trip by the time we're done.
