Now, first of all I have to say that I have NEVER been tent camping, so can't really say whether I would recommend at WDW. However, I have visited Fort Wilderness campground twice for dinner/a look-around and have to say that I LOVE the atmosphere. The beach, the natural setting, just everything there seem to be so relaxing to me.
Anyway, you mentioned that you were doing deluxe dining. I know, almost everyone said to skip the park hopping feature. However, remember that means you are locked into one park a day which also limits your eating choices. It really depends on your plans for ADRs. I know in our case, a lot of restaurants we are interested in are at Epcot. However, my kids are still rather young and we will probably spend most of our days at MK. With park hopping that will be no problem as we can spend the better part of the day at MK and then just visit EC for dinner.
Now, I am not saying that you DO need a Park Hopper but I think you should consider how not having it will impact your eating choices. If you already know where you want to eat it should be fairly easy to figure out how that corresponds with the parks you want to tour. If it pretty much matches up (i.e. you want to spend two days MK and also have plans to eat there/at a nearby resort for the deluxe meals for those two days) I would agree with everyone else and say to skip the hopper. However, if eating is somewhat a priority for you and if going to the restaurant of your choice would mean that you have to spend the days at a park you are less interested in, I would say you should get the Park Hopper and either tent camp (if you are used to it and enjoy it that might be okay for you) or find a different way to save some money.
