I've always bought Brinbaums WDW Travel Book but was considering The Unofficial WDW Travel Book this time.Which one do you use and think is better and why do you think it is?

Is my favorite I like the way the information is presented in UG.Make's it easy for me to use the info on my trips.I also like PassPorter and take both with me on my visits to WDW.Many good guide books and all have strong points I prefer UG.::yes:: :wave2:

It depends on what you are looking for. If you want a great planning guide, the Passporter is great. It has pockets to hold things in, but if you want the Bad along with the good, the unofficial guide is great. It has touring plans for different types of trips (w/kids, wo/kids etc...) I really like to use both when planning a trip.

We have always gotten Birnbaum and it has been good to us. We recommend it to "first timers" because it is not too overwhelming.

Due to the positive posts on the DIS, we got our first Unofficial Guide a few weeks ago and we are hooked. It definitely fills in more detail, answers questions I never thought to ask, and I love the ratings.

I use Birnbaums a lot when I'm trip planning, because it's much more compact, and makes it easy to find the info I need (ie prices, times of events, etc.) Unofficial guide is handy if you're pretty new to WDW and need touring tips, though. Passporter is by far my favorite, though!

Someday when I write a WDW guidebook, I'll recommend that one instead ;)

I prefer Birnbaums because the others arent as biased as I like;)

:teeth: LOL, that's why I like the UG! Birnbaum's book is fun to read and can really get you enthusiastic about WDW, but I found UG helpful in giving the positive AND the negative opinions about various parts of the World. The UG is pretty specific in their reasons for liking or disliking something. But with the information they provide, I can tell if it something that my family would enjoy, whether the UG liked it or not!

Birnbaums is more generalized, colorful and it does get you psyched for your trip.

Unofficial Guide is much more detailed, with ratings of hotels, attractions and restaurants...the touring plans alone are worth the price of the book, especially if you go when the parks are apt to be crowded.

Passporter is great for individualizing your own vacation plans, you can write down everything...every little detail of your vacation and have it all handy in one spot. The pockets in the back of the book store receipts, tickets, etc. The pullout maps of the parks were invaluable, helped us locate restaurants, attractions and restrooms quickly. I was always referring to the maps on the monorail, in the car or while waiting for a show to plan our next move!:moped:

I prefer the passporter also. Aside from all the useful information inside, It gives you all kinds of space to write about all aspects of your trip, including hotel stay/what day did you go to what park/how was your travel to the world/etc, and then you have a cool memory book about your trip.

tricia.

I used to buy Birnbaum and the UG. Now I only buy UG and that's just because it is entertaining to read. We know our way around the property now, so the actual plans are superfluous. For some reason the stores around here don't carry Passporter, but I saw one a couple of times and it looks more useful than the Birnbaum.

You are probably spending thousands of dollars on your WDW vacation...why don't you spring for both books? I don't really like Birnbaums, but lots of people do...It's pretty good to "get you in the mood."

Several years ago we were contemplating a day trip to Disneyland in CA. I bought the UG and the intense touring plans gave me a headache, so we didn't go. It was a good decision, because I think my kids were just too young. About 5 years later we made the DL trip ... I thought the touring plans in the UG were great. YES they are structured, and the unstructured among us may say that takes away all the fun...but what fun is it standing in lines for hours?

I prefer Walt Disney World with Kids by Kim Wright Wiley.

If you have kids, definately get them a Birnbaum's for Kids.:)

:wave2: Gram!! I like the Passporter and Unofficial. Of course I like EVERY WDW book ever printed! LOL
