Thinking about doing a tour this year - it's my sister's birthday when we go in May, so might treat her! lol Anyway, so far I've come to the conclusion that it's going to be either the Backstage Magic or Keys To The Kingdom tour.

Has anyone ever done these? Any thoughts? Any preferences? All thoughts are gratefully welcomed!

We are going to do Keys to the Kingdom, we have wanted to do it for about 4 years but DS only turns 16 in July, just in time for our August trip.

We did Keys to the Kingdom 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. Our guide was really informative and it was great to go into the utilidors. You tour the park, stopping to do a few rides as you go, then go "backstage" through a door at the back of one of the shops on mainstreet. Definately worth doing. :thumbsup2

We have actually done Keys to the Kingdom twice now and really enjoyed it both times. Although it is the same tour and essentially you walk around the same parts of the park and backstage areas we learnt completely different things.

Both times the tour's were amazing! Its great to see some of things going on behind the scenes and both times our guides were amazing! I would definately recommend it!

My favourite is the Backstage Magic tour as you get to go to more than one park (Got to see how the American Adventure worked, which was cool).

The downside is that it takes some serious commitment as it's a 7 hour tour.

It's definately worth it if you can spare the time though.

Well, seeing as this is trip number 7, and there will be another this year, plus at least one every year for the next several decades, we have plenty of time to spare. That is definitely not an issue. :rotfl: Aww, decisions, decisions.

Is the Backstage Magic tour doable by wheelchair? We can probably walk the KTTK one as it's not as long, but an all dayer might require the chair for mum.

Honest answer is I think so but I'm not sure. You do ride on a bus from park to park though so there are rest times.

I'd phone 407-WDW-TOUR to check on the wheelchair access.

Okay, bus from park to park would be fine. The wheelchair is manual, so can easily be folded up. Mum has started working again after nearly 2-years out sick, and she is much better at distance, but I highly doubt she could manage an entire day at Disney, at least not this May. So, the chair is just a backup really.

we did the backstage magic tour last year and to be honest were bored for a lot of it. we didnt spend much time in the interesting bits (backstage at epcot, utilidors), spent too much time at american adventure, yes it was interesting but not 45 minutes or so interesting. and about an hour in the laundry building :scared:
i say go for the KTTK tour.
on BSM the lunch was nice, we had a good tour guide, and it was informative in bits, we got a cool pin out of it, but we were bored for a LOT of the time.

We have done both and love backstage magic. We haqve done this twice and I would say that there is less walking on backstage magic as you are on and off the bus.

I would think there would no problem taking the wheelchair as it is a full size coach and the tour has a limit of 20 people,

We did Keys to the Kingdom a couple of years ago and loved it, Really informative and lovely to be able to see behind the scenes in my fave park! We had booked Backstage Magic last year, but we cancelled it - it was just so expensive as when we went the exchange rate was at its worst! Hoping to do it this year instead!

I've done both tours and have to say I preferred the Keys tour as the guide was brilliant, we got into MK before everybody else & had some great castle photos & the lunch was good too.
Backstage was a whole day which was tiring! On & off the bus got boring & some of the places we visited like the storage area for the Christmas decorations was just filling up the time. It could have been a really good tour but by the end I just wanted it to finish.
The Keys tour on the other hand I didn't want to stop!
We've also done both Segway tours so if anyone's interested in those just let me know.

I think that it all depends on your guide TBH and what you find interesting. We really like the backstage how its put together etc and well as behind the scenes at the parks.
