My husband and I are planning a trip for next year. We went in 2008 the week before memorial day and it was nice didn't really start feeling busy until like thursday night. And as this was my husban's first time there and my first time in over 10 years really not sure how crowds are the other times of year. I know I don't want to go in summer as that's what my mother and I used to do and there was a million people there and it was hot and muggy and kind miserable. DH and I were looking to go either first week in October or first week in December. Which lands us either in the middle of the food and wine festival or during Pop warner week. With our jobs, finacial situation, and other events this is really the only time we can go. Looking for some advice about which time might be better crowd wise. I'm not expecting to have the whole park to myself but I don't want there to be so many people I can't do anything. When we went in May I felt the crowds were great some rides were long waits (Soarin, Rockin Rollercoaster, Everest) and we were able to either fastpass them or going during EMH without much wait. Basically I'm just not looking to be stuck waiting an hour plus for everthing.

Welcome!! Either time would be a very nice time to visit. You probably need to decide if you want to experience Halloween at the world with warmer temps, or Christmas with a little cooler temps. One other thing to watch for is if free dining will be offered during the time you want to visit. This can be a good and a bad thing.

Personally, we have been there both times of the year and we would chose December. We prefer to enjoy the Christmas events!!

I think the pp was spot on. Since we don't have a crystal ball we can't predict things spot on - but both those times are supposed to be slower. Often people seem to answer this question with December. I do think that it depends on what you want. The weather is VERY different between those 2 dates. I would encourage you to ask this on the Theme Parks and Attractions board and you'll get a lot of experienced opinions. I do know that there was a lot of chatter this year indicating that the first week of December was busy between free dining and pop warner. I think you'll get some good information from the other board.

We have been many times in Oct and once in Dec. Once in Dec was enough for us. We will never do that again. It was wall to wall people! And no it was not the week before or after Christmas it was the 9th to the 18th 3 years ago. serously it was the most crowded I have ever seen it and we have went twice at spring break.
Also as far as the Christmas decorations go we weren't all that impressed. We hd looked forward to Christmas for years after seeing the Samantha Brown special. Well after going we were convinced that they did all that for the show only.
I had been excited about the marzapan villiage at Animal Kingdom only to be told that they weren't doing it that year! HUH?
It was such a let down. The decorations they did have up were beautiful but it only met about half of our expectations.
