I use a Towncar when I go to WDW solo. I like getting to the hotel ASAP and also not going all over to other hotels on the way back. But I don't like this automatic gratuity thing. As a solo with only one piece of luggage, I always thought it was sufficient to tip only $5, so I'm put off by these companies with their automatic $10 tip. What do you all think? Should I be tipping more? Should I consider this "automatic tip"?

I don't like automatic tips either and I avoid using places that do it if I can. I don't think I would ever be considered a cheap tipper, but I want to be the one to decide how much! I've also read some posts where people felt pressured to tip the driver even though the tip was already added in! I can see the dilemma when you're travelling solo. It hardly seems fair that you should tip as much as someone who has 8 people in a van. Then again, it didn't take the driver any less time to get you where you're going, although the luggage is certainly less. It's your decision on how much to tip, but you asked:D ...so...If I were traveling alone with 1 pc of luggage, I'd probably tip no less than 15%. You're really only talking another $2 even rounding up.

We tend to be generous tippers, in the 15 to 20 percent range depending on the service. Personally, I don't like doing math so I don't mind an automatic gratuity (and if I felt the service was exceptional, I might give more). Of course, I am the kind of person who would not be shy about complaining if I did not feel that the service rated the automatic gratuity...I know some people are not comfortable doing that. But fortunately we have never run into that circumstance.

Dear simba'smom,
Your ride does NOT include an automatic gratuity. And I agree you should only tip for the service you recieve. Hope that helps.

Sorry, forgot to answer the question!:D In researching who to use I found that Tiffany does not include an automatic tip of any kind. Happy Limo adds 20% for a van or limo, $10 ea. way for a Towncar. FLTours does not include a tip except on the limo. There are probably others that don't include an automatic tip, these were just the ones I was considering.

Tiffany TownCar told me that the price for a limo included gratuity in the price listed.

You may be right about the limo, I should not have said "of any kind". I don't know for a fact about the limo as I didn't ask. They don't include a gratuity for towncars or vans, and the $8 discount that is available makes them very reasonable, especially for the van.

WE RECENTLY USED "YOUR RIDE" AND FOUND THERE SERVICE VERY PROFESSIONAL, COMPETITIVE IN PRICE AND THE TIP WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE.
