Right now we're able to vacation in the off-season since our kids are small. We don't know if taking them out of school will be an option as they get older. So, if you have to go to WDW in the summer, when is the best time to go? I know it will be hot, humid, and crowded all summer long, but is there a certain time like beginning of June or end of August that is better than, say, mid-July?

Thanks!

We went in the beginning of June last year and the crowds were not bad at all. As for the weather, I did not think it was that hot, but the heat does not bother me too much. DH and my sister both thought it was miserably hot (but they are on the opposite extreme - they cannot handle heat AT ALL!). Just drink lots of water and take mister fans! We did get a few days of rain in the afternoons near the end of our trip. I think the earlier in June you go, the better weather you will get.

We've been many times during the summer - June, July, and early August - and I didn't think it was any different as far as crowds and/or heat. It is hot, and it is crowded. But, with mister fans, EMH, and fast pass, we've always been able to see everything we wanted and ride our favorites many times!!!

We'll be back for our third visit the week of July 4th - its a great time to visit!!! The fireworks are fantastic!!!!

Thank you for your quick replies! I'm sure any time we choose to go will be fun, especially if we make use of Fastpass and EMH. Better to be in hot, crowded Disney than at home!

Our trip plan sounds exactly like yours....while the kids were small, we pulled them out of school in January. No big deal. However, when they got older, we began going late June early July for about 10-11 days. Have been doing that now for the last 3 trips. We love it. Our daily plan has us sleeping late (kids can sleep through room-cleanings next door; DH and I are up by 8am), relaxing breakfast poolside, quick swim, shower, do wash one day, then off to the Park by 11am. PS for 2pm+ lunch; then we close the parks down, many times arriving back at the room after midnight. After 8:30pm, you can get any attraction without a wait. Last trip my DS and DD did ToT 12 times in a row!!

It rains hard daily, so we pack 2 ponchos per person each trip and bring out a new one mid-way through the trip. Those showers really clear out the parks for a time, so we can again enjoy being hard-core WDW trippers. Its hot, humid, and you will be semi-dry some days for a few hours, but it's sure worth it.
My advice is to have PSs for each meal so there are no disappointments. The 90-day out rule for PSs is a must. In the summer you will not be able to "walk in" the popular eateries....maybe RFC in AK, but that would be about it.

We found that the 2nd half of August is a bit less crowded since schools are back in session in the area. We were also able to get better rates at the on-site resorts compared to the rest of the summer.
