We leave one week from today!!!
I have an almost 2.5 year old. She'll likely walk a lot, and spend time on my dad's shoulders, but she'll definitely need a stroller at times. I'm hoping (wishing?!) she'll even nap in it a couple of days so we don't have to go sit in the hotel room while she naps. But I can't decide which stroller to bring. Here are the two choices, with the pros and cons:
1. Peg Perego, not sure of the model. It's not an umbrella stroller, but it folds up pretty easily and stands up by itself when folded. it can recline all the way flat, has a foot rest that can move up so the whole thing is totally flat for naps. It has pretty decent storage in the basket underneath and a little pouch behind the seat. It has a little snack tray, and a pretty good sunshade. It's a little heavy, but I can get it in and out of my car easily enough, so it's not too bad. Not the greatest wheels (my city elite is a much smoother ride!). Definitely bigger/heavier than the second option...
2. Maclaren Quest (from 2008). I just found it at a children's resale shop for $24. Someone else in the store was also interested, but I was there first, and someone else called on the phone interested while I was there (it had been posted on the store's FB page), so it seemed like quite the hot item, and I grabbed it. It's an umbrella stroller, much smaller and lighter than the PP, but has some definite cons. It reclines somewhat, but not all the way flat, and the footrest doesn't raise up. No snack tray. Not as big of a storage basket underneath, and not as big of a sunshade, although it's not horrible. I haven't used it much yet, but it seems to drive/ride pretty well.
I'm thinking the bigger storage capacity may make the larger/heavier stroller worth bringing, as we're going to need extra clothes, diapers, snacks, water bottles, sweatshirts, etc. and it would be nice not to have a backpack on the whole time. But then again, maybe a smaller, lighter stroller is more preferable for the parks? Thoughts?? Did you bring a smaller stroller and wish you'd brought a bigger one, or vice versa?
Thanks for any advice!
